Psalm 5
NET Parallel ISV [BSB CSB ESV HCS KJV ISV NAS NET NIV NLT HEB]
NET BibleInternational Standard Version
For the music director, to be accompanied by wind instruments; a psalm of David. Listen to what I say, LORD! Carefully consider my complaint! 1LORD, listen to my words, consider my groaning.
Pay attention to my cry for help, my king and my God, for I am praying to you! 2Pay attention to my cry for help, my king and my God, for unto you will I pray.
LORD, in the morning you will hear me; in the morning I will present my case to you and then wait expectantly for an answer. 3LORD, in the morning you will hear my voice; in the morning I will pray to you, and I will watch for your answer.
Certainly you are not a God who approves of evil; evil people cannot dwell with you. 4Indeed, you aren't a God who delights in wickedness; evil will never dwell with you.
Arrogant people cannot stand in your presence; you hate all who behave wickedly. 5Boastful ones will not stand before you; you hate all those who practice wickedness.
You destroy liars; the LORD despises violent and deceitful people. 6You will destroy those who speak lies. The LORD abhors the person of bloodshed and deceit.
But as for me, because of your great faithfulness I will enter your house; I will bow down toward your holy temple as I worship you. 7But I, because of the abundance of your gracious love, may come into your house. In awe of you, I will worship in your holy Temple.
LORD, lead me in your righteousness because of those who wait to ambush me, remove the obstacles in the way in which you are guiding me! 8LORD, lead me in your righteousness because of my enemies. Make your path straight before me.
For they do not speak the truth; their stomachs are like the place of destruction, their throats like an open grave, their tongues like a steep slope leading into it. 9But as for the wicked, they do not speak truth at all. Inside them there is only wickedness. Their throat is an open grave, on their tongue is deceitful flattery.
Condemn them, O God! May their own schemes be their downfall! Drive them away because of their many acts of insurrection, for they have rebelled against you. 10Declare them guilty, God! Let them fall by their own schemes. Drive them away because of their many transgressions, for they have rebelled against you.
But may all who take shelter in you be happy! May they continually shout for joy! Shelter them so that those who are loyal to you may rejoice! 11Let all those who take refuge in you rejoice! Let them shout for joy forever, and may you protect them. Let those who love your name exult in you.
Certainly you reward the godly, LORD. Like a shield you protect them in your good favor. 12Indeed, you will bless the righteous one, LORD, like a large shield, you will surround him with favor.
