For the music director, to be accompanied by wind instruments; a psalm of David. Listen to what I say, LORD! Carefully consider my complaint! 1For the choir director; for flute accompaniment. A Psalm of David. Give ear to my words, O LORD, Consider my groaning.
Pay attention to my cry for help, my king and my God, for I am praying to you! 2Heed the sound of my cry for help, my King and my God, For to You I pray.
LORD, in the morning you will hear me; in the morning I will present my case to you and then wait expectantly for an answer. 3In the morning, O LORD, You will hear my voice; In the morning I will order my prayer to You and eagerly watch.
Certainly you are not a God who approves of evil; evil people cannot dwell with you. 4For You are not a God who takes pleasure in wickedness; No evil dwells with You.
Arrogant people cannot stand in your presence; you hate all who behave wickedly. 5The boastful shall not stand before Your eyes; You hate all who do iniquity.
You destroy liars; the LORD despises violent and deceitful people. 6You destroy those who speak falsehood; The LORD abhors the man of bloodshed and deceit.
But as for me, because of your great faithfulness I will enter your house; I will bow down toward your holy temple as I worship you. 7But as for me, by Your abundant lovingkindness I will enter Your house, At Your holy temple I will bow in reverence for You.
LORD, lead me in your righteousness because of those who wait to ambush me, remove the obstacles in the way in which you are guiding me! 8O LORD, lead me in Your righteousness because of my foes; Make Your way straight before me.
For they do not speak the truth; their stomachs are like the place of destruction, their throats like an open grave, their tongues like a steep slope leading into it. 9There is nothing reliable in what they say; Their inward part is destruction itself. Their throat is an open grave; They flatter with their tongue.
Condemn them, O God! May their own schemes be their downfall! Drive them away because of their many acts of insurrection, for they have rebelled against you. 10Hold them guilty, O God; By their own devices let them fall! In the multitude of their transgressions thrust them out, For they are rebellious against You.
But may all who take shelter in you be happy! May they continually shout for joy! Shelter them so that those who are loyal to you may rejoice! 11But let all who take refuge in You be glad, Let them ever sing for joy; And may You shelter them, That those who love Your name may exult in You.
Certainly you reward the godly, LORD. Like a shield you protect them in your good favor. 12For it is You who blesses the righteous man, O LORD, You surround him with favor as with a shield.
