Psalm 83
NET Parallel ISV [BSB CSB ESV HCS KJV ISV NAS NET NIV NLT HEB]
NET BibleInternational Standard Version
A song, a psalm of Asaph. O God, do not be silent! Do not ignore us! Do not be inactive, O God! 1God, do not rest! Don't be silent! Don't stay inactive, God!
For look, your enemies are making a commotion; those who hate you are hostile. 2See! Your enemies rage; those who hate you issue threats.
They carefully plot against your people, and make plans to harm the ones you cherish. 3They plot against your people and conspire against your cherished ones.
They say, "Come on, let's annihilate them so they are no longer a nation! Then the name of Israel will be remembered no more." 4They say, "Let us go and erase them as a nation so the name of Israel will not be remembered anymore."
Yes, they devise a unified strategy; they form an alliance against you. 5Indeed, they shrewdly planned together, forming an alliance against you—
It includes the tents of Edom and the Ishmaelites, Moab and the Hagrites, 6the tents of Edom, the Ishmaelites, Moab, the Hagrites,
Gebal, Ammon, and Amalek, Philistia and the inhabitants of Tyre. 7Gebal, Ammon, Amalek, Philistia, and the inhabitants of Tyre.
Even Assyria has allied with them, lending its strength to the descendants of Lot. (Selah) 8Even Assyria joined them to strengthen the descendants of Lot. Interlude
Do to them as you did to Midian--as you did to Sisera and Jabin at the Kishon River! 9Deal with them as you did to Midian, Sisera, and Jabin at the Kishon Brook.
They were destroyed at Endor; their corpses were like manure on the ground. 10They were destroyed at En-dor and became as dung on the ground.
Make their nobles like Oreb and Zeeb, and all their rulers like Zebah and Zalmunna, 11Punish their nobles like Oreb and Zeeb, and all their princes like Zebah and Zalmunna,
who said, "Let's take over the pastures of God!" 12who said, "Let us possess the pastures of God."
O my God, make them like dead thistles, like dead weeds blown away by the wind! 13God, set them up like dried thistles, like straw before the wind.
Like the fire that burns down the forest, or the flames that consume the mountainsides, 14Like a fire burning a forest, and a flame setting mountains ablaze.
chase them with your gale winds, and terrify them with your windstorm. 15Pursue them with your storm and terrify them with your whirlwind.
Cover their faces with shame, so they might seek you, O LORD. 16Fill their faces with shame until they seek your name, God.
May they be humiliated and continually terrified! May they die in shame! 17Let them be humiliated and terrified permanently until they die in shame.
Then they will know that you alone are the LORD, the sovereign king over all the earth. 18Then they will know that you alone— whose name is LORD— are the Most High over all the earth.
