| 1From Paul, an apostle (not from men, nor by human agency, but by Jesus Christ and God the Father who raised him from the dead) | 1Paul, an apostle, (not of men, neither by man, but by Jesus Christ, and God the Father, who raised him from the dead;) |
| 2and all the brothers with me, to the churches of Galatia. | 2And all the brethren which are with me, unto the churches of Galatia: |
| 3Grace and peace to you from God the Father and our Lord Jesus Christ, | 3Grace be to you and peace from God the Father, and from our Lord Jesus Christ, |
| 4who gave himself for our sins to rescue us from this present evil age according to the will of our God and Father, | 4Who gave himself for our sins, that he might deliver us from this present evil world, according to the will of God and our Father: |
| 5to whom be glory forever and ever! Amen. | 5To whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen. |
| 6I am astonished that you are so quickly deserting the one who called you by the grace of Christ and are following a different gospel-- | 6I marvel that ye are so soon removed from him that called you into the grace of Christ unto another gospel: |
| 7not that there really is another gospel, but there are some who are disturbing you and wanting to distort the gospel of Christ. | 7Which is not another; but there be some that trouble you, and would pervert the gospel of Christ. |
| 8But even if we (or an angel from heaven) should preach a gospel contrary to the one we preached to you, let him be condemned to hell! | 8But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed. |
| 9As we have said before, and now I say again, if any one is preaching to you a gospel contrary to what you received, let him be condemned to hell! | 9As we said before, so say I now again, If any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed. |
| 10Am I now trying to gain the approval of people, or of God? Or am I trying to please people? If I were still trying to please people, I would not be a slave of Christ! | 10For do I now persuade men, or God? or do I seek to please men? for if I yet pleased men, I should not be the servant of Christ. |
| 11Now I want you to know, brothers and sisters, that the gospel I preached is not of human origin. | 11But I certify you, brethren, that the gospel which was preached of me is not after man. |
| 12For I did not receive it or learn it from any human source; instead I received it by a revelation of Jesus Christ. | 12For I neither received it of man, neither was I taught it, but by the revelation of Jesus Christ. |
| 13For you have heard of my former way of life in Judaism, how I was savagely persecuting the church of God and trying to destroy it. | 13For ye have heard of my conversation in time past in the Jews' religion, how that beyond measure I persecuted the church of God, and wasted it: |
| 14I was advancing in Judaism beyond many of my contemporaries in my nation, and was extremely zealous for the traditions of my ancestors. | 14And profited in the Jews' religion above many my equals in mine own nation, being more exceedingly zealous of the traditions of my fathers. |
| 15But when the one who set me apart from birth and called me by his grace was pleased | 15But when it pleased God, who separated me from my mother's womb, and called me by his grace, |
| 16to reveal his Son in me so that I could preach him among the Gentiles, I did not go to ask advice from any human being, | 16To reveal his Son in me, that I might preach him among the heathen; immediately I conferred not with flesh and blood: |
| 17nor did I go up to Jerusalem to see those who were apostles before me, but right away I departed to Arabia, and then returned to Damascus. | 17Neither went I up to Jerusalem to them which were apostles before me; but I went into Arabia, and returned again unto Damascus. |
| 18Then after three years I went up to Jerusalem to visit Cephas and get information from him, and I stayed with him fifteen days. | 18Then after three years I went up to Jerusalem to see Peter, and abode with him fifteen days. |
| 19But I saw none of the other apostles except James the Lord's brother. | 19But other of the apostles saw I none, save James the Lord's brother. |
| 20I assure you that, before God, I am not lying about what I am writing to you! | 20Now the things which I write unto you, behold, before God, I lie not. |
| 21Afterward I went to the regions of Syria and Cilicia. | 21Afterwards I came into the regions of Syria and Cilicia; |
| 22But I was personally unknown to the churches of Judea that are in Christ. | 22And was unknown by face unto the churches of Judaea which were in Christ: |
| 23They were only hearing, "The one who once persecuted us is now proclaiming the good news of the faith he once tried to destroy." | 23But they had heard only, That he which persecuted us in times past now preacheth the faith which once he destroyed. |
| 24So they glorified God because of me. | 24And they glorified God in me. |
