Psalm 71
NET Parallel NIV [BSB CSB ESV HCS KJV ISV NAS NET NIV NLT HEB]
NET BibleNew International Version
In you, O LORD, I have taken shelter! Never let me be humiliated! 1In you, LORD, I have taken refuge; let me never be put to shame.
Vindicate me by rescuing me! Listen to me! Deliver me! 2In your righteousness, rescue me and deliver me; turn your ear to me and save me.
Be my protector and refuge, a stronghold where I can be safe! For you are my high ridge and my stronghold. 3Be my rock of refuge, to which I can always go; give the command to save me, for you are my rock and my fortress.
My God, rescue me from the power of the wicked, from the hand of the cruel oppressor! 4Deliver me, my God, from the hand of the wicked, from the grasp of those who are evil and cruel.
For you give me confidence, O Lord; O LORD, I have trusted in you since I was young. 5For you have been my hope, Sovereign LORD, my confidence since my youth.
I have leaned on you since birth; you pulled me from my mother's womb. I praise you continually. 6From birth I have relied on you; you brought me forth from my mother's womb. I will ever praise you.
Many are appalled when they see me, but you are my secure shelter. 7I have become a sign to many; you are my strong refuge.
I praise you constantly and speak of your splendor all day long. 8My mouth is filled with your praise, declaring your splendor all day long.
Do not reject me in my old age! When my strength fails, do not abandon me! 9Do not cast me away when I am old; do not forsake me when my strength is gone.
For my enemies talk about me; those waiting for a chance to kill me plot my demise. 10For my enemies speak against me; those who wait to kill me conspire together.
They say, "God has abandoned him. Run and seize him, for there is no one who will rescue him!" 11They say, "God has forsaken him; pursue him and seize him, for no one will rescue him."
O God, do not remain far away from me! My God, hurry and help me! 12Do not be far from me, my God; come quickly, God, to help me.
May my accusers be humiliated and defeated! May those who want to harm me be covered with scorn and disgrace! 13May my accusers perish in shame; may those who want to harm me be covered with scorn and disgrace.
As for me, I will wait continually, and will continue to praise you. 14As for me, I will always have hope; I will praise you more and more.
I will tell about your justice, and all day long proclaim your salvation, though I cannot fathom its full extent. 15My mouth will tell of your righteous deeds, of your saving acts all day long-- though I know not how to relate them all.
I will come and tell about the mighty acts of the sovereign LORD. I will proclaim your justice--yours alone. 16I will come and proclaim your mighty acts, Sovereign LORD; I will proclaim your righteous deeds, yours alone.
O God, you have taught me since I was young, and I am still declaring your amazing deeds. 17Since my youth, God, you have taught me, and to this day I declare your marvelous deeds.
Even when I am old and gray, O God, do not abandon me, until I tell the next generation about your strength, and those coming after me about your power. 18Even when I am old and gray, do not forsake me, my God, till I declare your power to the next generation, your mighty acts to all who are to come.
Your justice, O God, extends to the skies above; you have done great things. O God, who can compare to you? 19Your righteousness, God, reaches to the heavens, you who have done great things. Who is like you, God?
Though you have allowed me to experience much trouble and distress, revive me once again! Bring me up once again from the depths of the earth! 20Though you have made me see troubles, many and bitter, you will restore my life again; from the depths of the earth you will again bring me up.
Raise me to a position of great honor! Turn and comfort me! 21You will increase my honor and comfort me once more.
I will express my thanks to you with a stringed instrument, praising your faithfulness, O my God! I will sing praises to you accompanied by a harp, O Holy One of Israel! 22I will praise you with the harp for your faithfulness, my God; I will sing praise to you with the lyre, Holy One of Israel.
My lips will shout for joy! Yes, I will sing your praises! I will praise you when you rescue me! 23My lips will shout for joy when I sing praise to you-- I whom you have delivered.
All day long my tongue will also tell about your justice, for those who want to harm me will be embarrassed and ashamed. 24My tongue will tell of your righteous acts all day long, for those who wanted to harm me have been put to shame and confusion.
