Psalm 34
NET Parallel NLT [BSB CSB ESV HCS KJV ISV NAS NET NIV NLT HEB]
NET BibleNew Living Translation
Written by David, when he pretended to be insane before Abimelech, causing the king to send him away. I will praise the LORD at all times; my mouth will continually praise him. 1I will praise the LORD at all times. I will constantly speak his praises.
I will boast in the LORD; let the oppressed hear and rejoice! 2I will boast only in the LORD; let all who are helpless take heart.
Magnify the LORD with me! Let's praise his name together! 3Come, let us tell of the LORD’s greatness; let us exalt his name together.
I sought the LORD's help and he answered me; he delivered me from all my fears. 4I prayed to the LORD, and he answered me. He freed me from all my fears.
Those who look to him for help are happy; their faces are not ashamed. 5Those who look to him for help will be radiant with joy; no shadow of shame will darken their faces.
This oppressed man cried out and the LORD heard; he saved him from all his troubles. 6In my desperation I prayed, and the LORD listened; he saved me from all my troubles.
The LORD's angel camps around the LORD's loyal followers and delivers them. 7For the angel of the LORD is a guard; he surrounds and defends all who fear him.
Taste and see that the LORD is good! How blessed is the one who takes shelter in him! 8Taste and see that the LORD is good. Oh, the joys of those who take refuge in him!
Remain loyal to the LORD, you chosen people of his, for his loyal followers lack nothing! 9Fear the LORD, you his godly people, for those who fear him will have all they need.
Even young lions sometimes lack food and are hungry, but those who seek the LORD lack no good thing. 10Even strong young lions sometimes go hungry, but those who trust in the LORD will lack no good thing.
Come children! Listen to me! I will teach you what it means to fear the LORD. 11Come, my children, and listen to me, and I will teach you to fear the LORD.
Do you want to really live? Would you love to live a long, happy life? 12Does anyone want to live a life that is long and prosperous?
Then make sure you don't speak evil words or use deceptive speech! 13Then keep your tongue from speaking evil and your lips from telling lies!
Turn away from evil and do what is right! Strive for peace and promote it! 14Turn away from evil and do good. Search for peace, and work to maintain it.
The LORD pays attention to the godly and hears their cry for help. 15The eyes of the LORD watch over those who do right; his ears are open to their cries for help.
But the LORD opposes evildoers and wipes out all memory of them from the earth. 16But the LORD turns his face against those who do evil; he will erase their memory from the earth.
The godly cry out and the LORD hears; he saves them from all their troubles. 17The LORD hears his people when they call to him for help. He rescues them from all their troubles.
The LORD is near the brokenhearted; he delivers those who are discouraged. 18The LORD is close to the brokenhearted; he rescues those whose spirits are crushed.
The godly face many dangers, but the LORD saves them from each one of them. 19The righteous person faces many troubles, but the LORD comes to the rescue each time.
He protects all his bones; not one of them is broken. 20For the LORD protects the bones of the righteous; not one of them is broken!
Evil people self-destruct; those who hate the godly are punished. 21Calamity will surely destroy the wicked, and those who hate the righteous will be punished.
The LORD rescues his servants; all who take shelter in him escape punishment. 22But the LORD will redeem those who serve him. No one who takes refuge in him will be condemned.
