Isaiah 65
NIV Parallel CSB [BSB CSB ESV HCS KJV ISV NAS NET NIV NLT HEB]
New International VersionChristian Standard Bible
"I revealed myself to those who did not ask for me; I was found by those who did not seek me. To a nation that did not call on my name, I said, 'Here am I, here am I.'1"I was sought by those who did not ask; I was found by those who did not seek me. I said, 'Here I am, here I am,' to a nation that did not call on my name.
All day long I have held out my hands to an obstinate people, who walk in ways not good, pursuing their own imaginations--2I spread out my hands all day long to a rebellious people who walk in the path that is not good, following their own thoughts.
a people who continually provoke me to my very face, offering sacrifices in gardens and burning incense on altars of brick;3These people continually anger me to my face, sacrificing in gardens, burning incense on bricks,
who sit among the graves and spend their nights keeping secret vigil; who eat the flesh of pigs, and whose pots hold broth of impure meat;4sitting among the graves, spending nights in secret places, eating the meat of pigs, and putting polluted broth in their bowls.
who say, 'Keep away; don't come near me, for I am too sacred for you!' Such people are smoke in my nostrils, a fire that keeps burning all day.5They say, 'Keep to yourself, don't come near me, for I am too holy for you!' These practices are smoke in my nostrils, a fire that burns all day long.
"See, it stands written before me: I will not keep silent but will pay back in full; I will pay it back into their laps--6Look, it is written in front of me: I will not keep silent, but I will repay; I will repay them fully
both your sins and the sins of your ancestors," says the LORD. "Because they burned sacrifices on the mountains and defied me on the hills, I will measure into their laps the full payment for their former deeds."7for your iniquities and the iniquities of your fathers together," says the LORD. "Because they burned incense on the mountains and reproached me on the hills, I will reward them fully for their former deeds."
This is what the LORD says: "As when juice is still found in a cluster of grapes and people say, 'Don't destroy it, there is still a blessing in it,' so will I do in behalf of my servants; I will not destroy them all.8The LORD says this: "As the new wine is found in a bunch of grapes, and one says, 'Don't destroy it, for there's some good in it,' so I will act because of my servants and not destroy them all.
I will bring forth descendants from Jacob, and from Judah those who will possess my mountains; my chosen people will inherit them, and there will my servants live.9I will produce descendants from Jacob, and heirs to my mountains from Judah; my chosen ones will possess it, and my servants will dwell there.
Sharon will become a pasture for flocks, and the Valley of Achor a resting place for herds, for my people who seek me.10Sharon will be a pasture for flocks, and the Valley of Achor a place for herds to lie down, for my people who have sought me.
"But as for you who forsake the LORD and forget my holy mountain, who spread a table for Fortune and fill bowls of mixed wine for Destiny,11But you who abandon the LORD, who forget my holy mountain, who prepare a table for Fortune and fill bowls of mixed wine for Destiny,
I will destine you for the sword, and all of you will fall in the slaughter; for I called but you did not answer, I spoke but you did not listen. You did evil in my sight and chose what displeases me."12I will destine you for the sword, and all of you will kneel down to be slaughtered, because I called and you did not answer, I spoke and you did not hear; you did what was evil in my sight and chose what I did not delight in."
Therefore this is what the Sovereign LORD says: "My servants will eat, but you will go hungry; my servants will drink, but you will go thirsty; my servants will rejoice, but you will be put to shame.13Therefore, this is what the Lord GOD says: "My servants will eat, but you will be hungry; my servants will drink, but you will be thirsty; my servants will rejoice, but you will be put to shame.
My servants will sing out of the joy of their hearts, but you will cry out from anguish of heart and wail in brokenness of spirit.14My servants will shout for joy from a glad heart, but you will cry out from an anguished heart, and you will lament out of a broken spirit.
You will leave your name for my chosen ones to use in their curses; the Sovereign LORD will put you to death, but to his servants he will give another name.15You will leave your name behind as a curse for my chosen ones, and the Lord GOD will kill you; but he will give his servants another name.
Whoever invokes a blessing in the land will do so by the one true God; whoever takes an oath in the land will swear by the one true God. For the past troubles will be forgotten and hidden from my eyes.16Whoever asks for a blessing in the land will ask for a blessing by the God of truth, and whoever swears in the land will swear by the God of truth. For the former troubles will be forgotten and hidden from my sight.
"See, I will create new heavens and a new earth. The former things will not be remembered, nor will they come to mind.17"For I will create a new heaven and a new earth; the past events will not be remembered or come to mind.
But be glad and rejoice forever in what I will create, for I will create Jerusalem to be a delight and its people a joy.18Then be glad and rejoice forever in what I am creating; for I will create Jerusalem to be a joy and its people to be a delight.
I will rejoice over Jerusalem and take delight in my people; the sound of weeping and of crying will be heard in it no more.19I will rejoice in Jerusalem and be glad in my people. The sound of weeping and crying will no longer be heard in her.
"Never again will there be in it an infant who lives but a few days, or an old man who does not live out his years; the one who dies at a hundred will be thought a mere child; the one who fails to reach a hundred will be considered accursed.20In her, a nursing infant will no longer live only a few days, or an old man not live out his days. Indeed, the one who dies at a hundred years old will be mourned as a young man, and the one who misses a hundred years will be considered cursed.
They will build houses and dwell in them; they will plant vineyards and eat their fruit.21People will build houses and live in them; they will plant vineyards and eat their fruit.
No longer will they build houses and others live in them, or plant and others eat. For as the days of a tree, so will be the days of my people; my chosen ones will long enjoy the work of their hands.22They will not build and others live in them; they will not plant and others eat. For my people's lives will be like the lifetime of a tree. My chosen ones will fully enjoy the work of their hands.
They will not labor in vain, nor will they bear children doomed to misfortune; for they will be a people blessed by the LORD, they and their descendants with them.23They will not labor without success or bear children destined for disaster, for they will be a people blessed by the LORD along with their descendants.
Before they call I will answer; while they are still speaking I will hear.24Even before they call, I will answer; while they are still speaking, I will hear.
The wolf and the lamb will feed together, and the lion will eat straw like the ox, and dust will be the serpent's food. They will neither harm nor destroy on all my holy mountain," says the LORD.25The wolf and the lamb will feed together, and the lion will eat straw like cattle, but the serpent's food will be dust! They will not do what is evil or destroy on my entire holy mountain," says the LORD.
