1I commend to you our sister Phoebe, a deacon of the church in Cenchreae.1I commend unto you Phebe our sister, which is a servant of the church which is at Cenchrea:
2I ask you to receive her in the Lord in a way worthy of his people and to give her any help she may need from you, for she has been the benefactor of many people, including me.2That ye receive her in the Lord, as becometh saints, and that ye assist her in whatsoever business she hath need of you: for she hath been a succourer of many, and of myself also.
3Greet Priscilla and Aquila, my co-workers in Christ Jesus.3Greet Priscilla and Aquila my helpers in Christ Jesus:
4They risked their lives for me. Not only I but all the churches of the Gentiles are grateful to them.4Who have for my life laid down their own necks: unto whom not only I give thanks, but also all the churches of the Gentiles.
5Greet also the church that meets at their house. Greet my dear friend Epenetus, who was the first convert to Christ in the province of Asia.5Likewise greet the church that is in their house. Salute my wellbeloved Epaenetus, who is the firstfruits of Achaia unto Christ.
6Greet Mary, who worked very hard for you.6Greet Mary, who bestowed much labour on us.
7Greet Andronicus and Junia, my fellow Jews who have been in prison with me. They are outstanding among the apostles, and they were in Christ before I was.7Salute Andronicus and Junia, my kinsmen, and my fellowprisoners, who are of note among the apostles, who also were in Christ before me.
8Greet Ampliatus, my dear friend in the Lord.8Greet Amplias my beloved in the Lord.
9Greet Urbanus, our co-worker in Christ, and my dear friend Stachys.9Salute Urbane, our helper in Christ, and Stachys my beloved.
10Greet Apelles, whose fidelity to Christ has stood the test. Greet those who belong to the household of Aristobulus.10Salute Apelles approved in Christ. Salute them which are of Aristobulus' household.
11Greet Herodion, my fellow Jew. Greet those in the household of Narcissus who are in the Lord.11Salute Herodion my kinsman. Greet them that be of the household of Narcissus, which are in the Lord.
12Greet Tryphena and Tryphosa, those women who work hard in the Lord. Greet my dear friend Persis, another woman who has worked very hard in the Lord.12Salute Tryphena and Tryphosa, who labour in the Lord. Salute the beloved Persis, which laboured much in the Lord.
13Greet Rufus, chosen in the Lord, and his mother, who has been a mother to me, too.13Salute Rufus chosen in the Lord, and his mother and mine.
14Greet Asyncritus, Phlegon, Hermes, Patrobas, Hermas and the other brothers and sisters with them.14Salute Asyncritus, Phlegon, Hermas, Patrobas, Hermes, and the brethren which are with them.
15Greet Philologus, Julia, Nereus and his sister, and Olympas and all the Lord's people who are with them.15Salute Philologus, and Julia, Nereus, and his sister, and Olympas, and all the saints which are with them.
16Greet one another with a holy kiss. All the churches of Christ send greetings.16Salute one another with an holy kiss. The churches of Christ salute you.
17I urge you, brothers and sisters, to watch out for those who cause divisions and put obstacles in your way that are contrary to the teaching you have learned. Keep away from them.17Now I beseech you, brethren, mark them which cause divisions and offences contrary to the doctrine which ye have learned; and avoid them.
18For such people are not serving our Lord Christ, but their own appetites. By smooth talk and flattery they deceive the minds of naive people.18For they that are such serve not our Lord Jesus Christ, but their own belly; and by good words and fair speeches deceive the hearts of the simple.
19Everyone has heard about your obedience, so I rejoice because of you; but I want you to be wise about what is good, and innocent about what is evil.19For your obedience is come abroad unto all men. I am glad therefore on your behalf: but yet I would have you wise unto that which is good, and simple concerning evil.
20The God of peace will soon crush Satan under your feet. The grace of our Lord Jesus be with you.20And the God of peace shall bruise Satan under your feet shortly. The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you. Amen.
21Timothy, my co-worker, sends his greetings to you, as do Lucius, Jason and Sosipater, my fellow Jews.21Timotheus my workfellow, and Lucius, and Jason, and Sosipater, my kinsmen, salute you.
22I, Tertius, who wrote down this letter, greet you in the Lord.22I Tertius, who wrote this epistle, salute you in the Lord.
23Gaius, whose hospitality I and the whole church here enjoy, sends you his greetings. Erastus, who is the city's director of public works, and our brother Quartus send you their greetings.23Gaius mine host, and of the whole church, saluteth you. Erastus the chamberlain of the city saluteth you, and Quartus a brother.
2424The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. Amen.
25Now to him who is able to establish you in accordance with my gospel, the message I proclaim about Jesus Christ, in keeping with the revelation of the mystery hidden for long ages past,25Now to him that is of power to stablish you according to my gospel, and the preaching of Jesus Christ, according to the revelation of the mystery, which was kept secret since the world began,
26but now revealed and made known through the prophetic writings by the command of the eternal God, so that all the Gentiles might come to the obedience that comes from faith--26But now is made manifest, and by the scriptures of the prophets, according to the commandment of the everlasting God, made known to all nations for the obedience of faith:
27to the only wise God be glory forever through Jesus Christ! Amen.27To God only wise, be glory through Jesus Christ for ever. Amen.
