1The divisions of the gatekeepers: From the Korahites: Meshelemiah son of Kore, one of the sons of Asaph.1For the divisions of the gatekeepers there were of the Korahites, Meshelemiah the son of Kore, of the sons of Asaph.
2Meshelemiah had sons: Zechariah the firstborn, Jediael the second, Zebadiah the third, Jathniel the fourth,2Meshelemiah had sons: Zechariah the firstborn, Jediael the second, Zebadiah the third, Jathniel the fourth,
3Elam the fifth, Jehohanan the sixth and Eliehoenai the seventh.3Elam the fifth, Johanan the sixth, Eliehoenai the seventh.
4Obed-Edom also had sons: Shemaiah the firstborn, Jehozabad the second, Joah the third, Sakar the fourth, Nethanel the fifth,4Obed-edom had sons: Shemaiah the firstborn, Jehozabad the second, Joah the third, Sacar the fourth, Nethanel the fifth,
5Ammiel the sixth, Issachar the seventh and Peullethai the eighth. (For God had blessed Obed-Edom.)5Ammiel the sixth, Issachar the seventh and Peullethai the eighth; God had indeed blessed him.
6Obed-Edom's son Shemaiah also had sons, who were leaders in their father's family because they were very capable men.6Also to his son Shemaiah sons were born who ruled over the house of their father, for they were mighty men of valor.
7The sons of Shemaiah: Othni, Rephael, Obed and Elzabad; his relatives Elihu and Semakiah were also able men.7The sons of Shemaiah were Othni, Rephael, Obed and Elzabad, whose brothers, Elihu and Semachiah, were valiant men.
8All these were descendants of Obed-Edom; they and their sons and their relatives were capable men with the strength to do the work--descendants of Obed-Edom, 62 in all.8All these were of the sons of Obed-edom; they and their sons and their relatives were able men with strength for the service, 62 from Obed-edom.
9Meshelemiah had sons and relatives, who were able men--18 in all.9Meshelemiah had sons and relatives, 18 valiant men.
10Hosah the Merarite had sons: Shimri the first (although he was not the firstborn, his father had appointed him the first),10Also Hosah, one of the sons of Merari had sons: Shimri the first (although he was not the firstborn, his father made him first),
11Hilkiah the second, Tabaliah the third and Zechariah the fourth. The sons and relatives of Hosah were 13 in all.11Hilkiah the second, Tebaliah the third, Zechariah the fourth; all the sons and relatives of Hosah were 13.
12These divisions of the gatekeepers, through their leaders, had duties for ministering in the temple of the LORD, just as their relatives had.12To these divisions of the gatekeepers, the chief men, were given duties like their relatives to minister in the house of the LORD.
13Lots were cast for each gate, according to their families, young and old alike.13They cast lots, the small and the great alike, according to their fathers' households, for every gate.
14The lot for the East Gate fell to Shelemiah. Then lots were cast for his son Zechariah, a wise counselor, and the lot for the North Gate fell to him.14The lot to the east fell to Shelemiah. Then they cast lots for his son Zechariah, a counselor with insight, and his lot came out to the north.
15The lot for the South Gate fell to Obed-Edom, and the lot for the storehouse fell to his sons.15For Obed-edom it fell to the south, and to his sons went the storehouse.
16The lots for the West Gate and the Shalleketh Gate on the upper road fell to Shuppim and Hosah. Guard was alongside of guard:16For Shuppim and Hosah it was to the west, by the gate of Shallecheth, on the ascending highway. Guard corresponded to guard.
17There were six Levites a day on the east, four a day on the north, four a day on the south and two at a time at the storehouse.17On the east there were six Levites, on the north four daily, on the south four daily, and at the storehouse two by two.
18As for the court to the west, there were four at the road and two at the court itself.18At the Parbar on the west there were four at the highway and two at the Parbar.
19These were the divisions of the gatekeepers who were descendants of Korah and Merari.19These were the divisions of the gatekeepers of the sons of Korah and of the sons of Merari.
20Their fellow Levites were in charge of the treasuries of the house of God and the treasuries for the dedicated things.20The Levites, their relatives, had charge of the treasures of the house of God and of the treasures of the dedicated gifts.
21The descendants of Ladan, who were Gershonites through Ladan and who were heads of families belonging to Ladan the Gershonite, were Jehieli,21The sons of Ladan, the sons of the Gershonites belonging to Ladan, namely, the Jehielites, were the heads of the fathers' households, belonging to Ladan the Gershonite.
22the sons of Jehieli, Zetham and his brother Joel. They were in charge of the treasuries of the temple of the LORD.22The sons of Jehieli, Zetham and Joel his brother, had charge of the treasures of the house of the LORD.
23From the Amramites, the Izharites, the Hebronites and the Uzzielites:23As for the Amramites, the Izharites, the Hebronites and the Uzzielites,
24Shubael, a descendant of Gershom son of Moses, was the official in charge of the treasuries.24Shebuel the son of Gershom, the son of Moses, was officer over the treasures.
25His relatives through Eliezer: Rehabiah his son, Jeshaiah his son, Joram his son, Zikri his son and Shelomith his son.25His relatives by Eliezer were Rehabiah his son, Jeshaiah his son, Joram his son, Zichri his son and Shelomoth his son.
26Shelomith and his relatives were in charge of all the treasuries for the things dedicated by King David, by the heads of families who were the commanders of thousands and commanders of hundreds, and by the other army commanders.26This Shelomoth and his relatives had charge of all the treasures of the dedicated gifts which King David and the heads of the fathers' households, the commanders of thousands and hundreds, and the commanders of the army, had dedicated.
27Some of the plunder taken in battle they dedicated for the repair of the temple of the LORD.27They dedicated part of the spoil won in battles to repair the house of the LORD.
28And everything dedicated by Samuel the seer and by Saul son of Kish, Abner son of Ner and Joab son of Zeruiah, and all the other dedicated things were in the care of Shelomith and his relatives.28And all that Samuel the seer had dedicated and Saul the son of Kish, Abner the son of Ner and Joab the son of Zeruiah, everyone who had dedicated anything, all of this was in the care of Shelomoth and his relatives.
29From the Izharites: Kenaniah and his sons were assigned duties away from the temple, as officials and judges over Israel.29As for the Izharites, Chenaniah and his sons were assigned to outside duties for Israel, as officers and judges.
30From the Hebronites: Hashabiah and his relatives--seventeen hundred able men--were responsible in Israel west of the Jordan for all the work of the LORD and for the king's service.30As for the Hebronites, Hashabiah and his relatives, 1,700 capable men, had charge of the affairs of Israel west of the Jordan, for all the work of the LORD and the service of the king.
31As for the Hebronites, Jeriah was their chief according to the genealogical records of their families. In the fortieth year of David's reign a search was made in the records, and capable men among the Hebronites were found at Jazer in Gilead.31As for the Hebronites, Jerijah the chief (these Hebronites were investigated according to their genealogies and fathers' households, in the fortieth year of David's reign, and men of outstanding capability were found among them at Jazer of Gilead)
32Jeriah had twenty-seven hundred relatives, who were able men and heads of families, and King David put them in charge of the Reubenites, the Gadites and the half-tribe of Manasseh for every matter pertaining to God and for the affairs of the king.32and his relatives, capable men, were 2,700 in number, heads of fathers' households. And King David made them overseers of the Reubenites, the Gadites and the half-tribe of the Manassites concerning all the affairs of God and of the king.
