New International VersionNew American Standard Bible 1995
Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus,1Therefore there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.
because through Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit who gives life has set you free from the law of sin and death.2For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has set you free from the law of sin and of death.
For what the law was powerless to do because it was weakened by the flesh, God did by sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh to be a sin offering. And so he condemned sin in the flesh,3For what the Law could not do, weak as it was through the flesh, God did: sending His own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh and as an offering for sin, He condemned sin in the flesh,
in order that the righteous requirement of the law might be fully met in us, who do not live according to the flesh but according to the Spirit.4so that the requirement of the Law might be fulfilled in us, who do not walk according to the flesh but according to the Spirit.
Those who live according to the flesh have their minds set on what the flesh desires; but those who live in accordance with the Spirit have their minds set on what the Spirit desires.5For those who are according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who are according to the Spirit, the things of the Spirit.
The mind governed by the flesh is death, but the mind governed by the Spirit is life and peace.6For the mind set on the flesh is death, but the mind set on the Spirit is life and peace,
The mind governed by the flesh is hostile to God; it does not submit to God's law, nor can it do so.7because the mind set on the flesh is hostile toward God; for it does not subject itself to the law of God, for it is not even able to do so,
Those who are in the realm of the flesh cannot please God.8and those who are in the flesh cannot please God.
You, however, are not in the realm of the flesh but are in the realm of the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God lives in you. And if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, they do not belong to Christ.9However, you are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God dwells in you. But if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he does not belong to Him.
But if Christ is in you, then even though your body is subject to death because of sin, the Spirit gives life because of righteousness.10If Christ is in you, though the body is dead because of sin, yet the spirit is alive because of righteousness.
And if the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead is living in you, he who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies because of his Spirit who lives in you.11But if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, He who raised Christ Jesus from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit who dwells in you.
Therefore, brothers and sisters, we have an obligation--but it is not to the flesh, to live according to it.12So then, brethren, we are under obligation, not to the flesh, to live according to the flesh--
For if you live according to the flesh, you will die; but if by the Spirit you put to death the misdeeds of the body, you will live.13for if you are living according to the flesh, you must die; but if by the Spirit you are putting to death the deeds of the body, you will live.
For those who are led by the Spirit of God are the children of God.14For all who are being led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God.
The Spirit you received does not make you slaves, so that you live in fear again; rather, the Spirit you received brought about your adoption to sonship. And by him we cry, "Abba, Father."15For you have not received a spirit of slavery leading to fear again, but you have received a spirit of adoption as sons by which we cry out, "Abba! Father!"
The Spirit himself testifies with our spirit that we are God's children.16The Spirit Himself testifies with our spirit that we are children of God,
Now if we are children, then we are heirs--heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ, if indeed we share in his sufferings in order that we may also share in his glory.17and if children, heirs also, heirs of God and fellow heirs with Christ, if indeed we suffer with Him so that we may also be glorified with Him.
I consider that our present sufferings are not worth comparing with the glory that will be revealed in us.18For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory that is to be revealed to us.
For the creation waits in eager expectation for the children of God to be revealed.19For the anxious longing of the creation waits eagerly for the revealing of the sons of God.
For the creation was subjected to frustration, not by its own choice, but by the will of the one who subjected it, in hope20For the creation was subjected to futility, not willingly, but because of Him who subjected it, in hope
that the creation itself will be liberated from its bondage to decay and brought into the freedom and glory of the children of God.21that the creation itself also will be set free from its slavery to corruption into the freedom of the glory of the children of God.
We know that the whole creation has been groaning as in the pains of childbirth right up to the present time.22For we know that the whole creation groans and suffers the pains of childbirth together until now.
Not only so, but we ourselves, who have the firstfruits of the Spirit, groan inwardly as we wait eagerly for our adoption to sonship, the redemption of our bodies.23And not only this, but also we ourselves, having the first fruits of the Spirit, even we ourselves groan within ourselves, waiting eagerly for our adoption as sons, the redemption of our body.
For in this hope we were saved. But hope that is seen is no hope at all. Who hopes for what they already have?24For in hope we have been saved, but hope that is seen is not hope; for who hopes for what he already sees?
But if we hope for what we do not yet have, we wait for it patiently.25But if we hope for what we do not see, with perseverance we wait eagerly for it.
In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us through wordless groans.26In the same way the Spirit also helps our weakness; for we do not know how to pray as we should, but the Spirit Himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words;
And he who searches our hearts knows the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for God's people in accordance with the will of God.27and He who searches the hearts knows what the mind of the Spirit is, because He intercedes for the saints according to the will of God.
And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.28And we know that God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose.
For those God foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brothers and sisters.29For those whom He foreknew, He also predestined to become conformed to the image of His Son, so that He would be the firstborn among many brethren;
And those he predestined, he also called; those he called, he also justified; those he justified, he also glorified.30and these whom He predestined, He also called; and these whom He called, He also justified; and these whom He justified, He also glorified.
What, then, shall we say in response to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us?31What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who is against us?
He who did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for us all--how will he not also, along with him, graciously give us all things?32He who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him over for us all, how will He not also with Him freely give us all things?
Who will bring any charge against those whom God has chosen? It is God who justifies.33Who will bring a charge against God's elect? God is the one who justifies;
Who then is the one who condemns? No one. Christ Jesus who died--more than that, who was raised to life--is at the right hand of God and is also interceding for us.34who is the one who condemns? Christ Jesus is He who died, yes, rather who was raised, who is at the right hand of God, who also intercedes for us.
Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall trouble or hardship or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword?35Who will separate us from the love of Christ? Will tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword?
As it is written: "For your sake we face death all day long; we are considered as sheep to be slaughtered."36Just as it is written, "FOR YOUR SAKE WE ARE BEING PUT TO DEATH ALL DAY LONG; WE WERE CONSIDERED AS SHEEP TO BE SLAUGHTERED."
No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us.37But in all these things we overwhelmingly conquer through Him who loved us.
For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers,38For I am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers,
neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.39nor height, nor depth, nor any other created thing, will be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
