To the Chief Musician. A Psalm of David the servant of the LORD. An oracle within my heart concerning the transgression of the wicked: There is no fear of God before his eyes.1For the choirmaster. A Psalm of David, the servant of the LORD. An oracle is in my heart regarding the transgression of the wicked man: There is no fear of God before his eyes.
For he flatters himself in his own eyes, When he finds out his iniquity and when he hates.2For his eyes are too full of conceit to detect or hate his own sin.
The words of his mouth are wickedness and deceit; He has ceased to be wise and to do good.3The words of his mouth are wicked and deceitful; he has ceased to be wise and well-doing.
He devises wickedness on his bed; He sets himself in a way that is not good; He does not abhor evil.4Even on his bed he plots wickedness; he sets himself on a path that is not good; he fails to reject evil.
Your mercy, O LORD, is in the heavens; Your faithfulness reaches to the clouds.5Your loving devotion, O LORD, reaches to the heavens, Your faithfulness to the clouds.
Your righteousness is like the great mountains; Your judgments are a great deep; O LORD, You preserve man and beast.6Your righteousness is like the highest mountains; Your judgments are like the deepest sea. O LORD, You preserve man and beast.
How precious is Your lovingkindness, O God! Therefore the children of men put their trust under the shadow of Your wings.7How precious is Your loving devotion, O God, that the children of men take refuge in the shadow of Your wings!
They are abundantly satisfied with the fullness of Your house, And You give them drink from the river of Your pleasures.8They feast on the abundance of Your house, and You give them drink from Your river of delights.
For with You is the fountain of life; In Your light we see light.9For with You is the fountain of life; in Your light we see light.
Oh, continue Your lovingkindness to those who know You, And Your righteousness to the upright in heart.10Extend Your loving devotion to those who know You, and Your righteousness to the upright in heart.
Let not the foot of pride come against me, And let not the hand of the wicked drive me away.11Let not the foot of the proud come against me, nor the hand of the wicked drive me away.
There the workers of iniquity have fallen; They have been cast down and are not able to rise.12There the evildoers lie fallen, thrown down and unable to rise.
