Psalm 36
NKJV Parallel NIV [BSB CSB ESV HCS KJV ISV NAS NET NIV NLT HEB]
New King James VersionNew International Version
To the Chief Musician. A Psalm of David the servant of the LORD. An oracle within my heart concerning the transgression of the wicked: There is no fear of God before his eyes.1For the director of music. Of David the servant of the LORD. I have a message from God in my heart concerning the sinfulness of the wicked: There is no fear of God before their eyes.
For he flatters himself in his own eyes, When he finds out his iniquity and when he hates.2In their own eyes they flatter themselves too much to detect or hate their sin.
The words of his mouth are wickedness and deceit; He has ceased to be wise and to do good.3The words of their mouths are wicked and deceitful; they fail to act wisely or do good.
He devises wickedness on his bed; He sets himself in a way that is not good; He does not abhor evil.4Even on their beds they plot evil; they commit themselves to a sinful course and do not reject what is wrong.
Your mercy, O LORD, is in the heavens; Your faithfulness reaches to the clouds.5Your love, LORD, reaches to the heavens, your faithfulness to the skies.
Your righteousness is like the great mountains; Your judgments are a great deep; O LORD, You preserve man and beast.6Your righteousness is like the highest mountains, your justice like the great deep. You, LORD, preserve both people and animals.
How precious is Your lovingkindness, O God! Therefore the children of men put their trust under the shadow of Your wings.7How priceless is your unfailing love, O God! People take refuge in the shadow of your wings.
They are abundantly satisfied with the fullness of Your house, And You give them drink from the river of Your pleasures.8They feast on the abundance of your house; you give them drink from your river of delights.
For with You is the fountain of life; In Your light we see light.9For with you is the fountain of life; in your light we see light.
Oh, continue Your lovingkindness to those who know You, And Your righteousness to the upright in heart.10Continue your love to those who know you, your righteousness to the upright in heart.
Let not the foot of pride come against me, And let not the hand of the wicked drive me away.11May the foot of the proud not come against me, nor the hand of the wicked drive me away.
There the workers of iniquity have fallen; They have been cast down and are not able to rise.12See how the evildoers lie fallen-- thrown down, not able to rise!
