New King James VersionHolman Christian Standard Bible
A Song of Ascents. Of David. “If it had not been the LORD who was on our side,” Let Israel now say—1A Davidic song of ascents. If the LORD had not been on our side-- let Israel say--
“If it had not been the LORD who was on our side, When men rose up against us,2If the LORD had not been on our side when men attacked us,
Then they would have swallowed us alive, When their wrath was kindled against us;3then they would have swallowed us alive in their burning anger against us.
Then the waters would have overwhelmed us, The stream would have gone over our soul;4Then the waters would have engulfed us; the torrent would have swept over us;
Then the swollen waters Would have gone over our soul.”5the raging waters would have swept over us.
Blessed be the LORD, Who has not given us as prey to their teeth.6Praise the LORD, who has not let us be ripped apart by their teeth.
Our soul has escaped as a bird from the snare of the fowlers; The snare is broken, and we have escaped.7We have escaped like a bird from the hunter's net; the net is torn, and we have escaped.
Our help is in the name of the LORD, Who made heaven and earth.8Our help is in the name of Yahweh, the Maker of heaven and earth.
