So God blessed Noah and his sons, and said to them: “Be fruitful and multiply, and fill the earth.1God blessed Noah and his sons and ordered them, "Be productive, multiply, and fill the earth.
And the fear of you and the dread of you shall be on every beast of the earth, on every bird of the air, on all that move on the earth, and on all the fish of the sea. They are given into your hand.2All the living creatures of the earth will be filled with fear and terror of you from now on, including all the creatures that fly in the sky, everything that crawls on the ground, and all the fish of the ocean. They've been assigned to live under your dominion.
Every moving thing that lives shall be food for you. I have given you all things, even as the green herbs.3"Every living, moving creature will be food for you. Just as I gave you green plants before, so now you have everything.
But you shall not eat flesh with its life, that is, its blood.4However, you are not to eat meat with its life—that is, its blood—in it!
Surely for your lifeblood I will demand a reckoning; from the hand of every beast I will require it, and from the hand of man. From the hand of every man’s brother I will require the life of man.5Also, I will certainly demand an accounting regarding bloodshed, from every animal and from every human being. I'll demand an accounting from every human being for the life of another human being.
“Whoever sheds man’s blood, By man his blood shall be shed; For in the image of God He made man.6"Whoever sheds human blood, by a human his own blood is to be shed; because God made human beings in his own image.
And as for you, be fruitful and multiply; Bring forth abundantly in the earth And multiply in it.”7Now as for you, be productive and multiply; spread out over the land and multiply throughout it."
Then God spoke to Noah and to his sons with him, saying:8Later, God told Noah and his sons,
“And as for Me, behold, I establish My covenant with you and with your descendants after you,9"Pay attention! I'm establishing my covenant with you and with your descendants after you,
and with every living creature that is with you: the birds, the cattle, and every beast of the earth with you, of all that go out of the ark, every beast of the earth.10and with every living creature that is with you—the flying creatures, the livestock, and all the wildlife of the earth that are with you—all the earth's animals that came out of the ark.
Thus I establish My covenant with you: Never again shall all flesh be cut off by the waters of the flood; never again shall there be a flood to destroy the earth.”11I will establish my covenant with you: No living beings will ever be cut off again by flood waters, and there will never again be a flood that destroys the earth."
And God said: “This is the sign of the covenant which I make between Me and you, and every living creature that is with you, for perpetual generations:12God also said, "Here's the symbol that represents the covenant that I'm making between me and you and every living being with you, for all future generations:
I set My rainbow in the cloud, and it shall be for the sign of the covenant between Me and the earth.13I've set my rainbow in the sky to symbolize the covenant between me and the earth.
It shall be, when I bring a cloud over the earth, that the rainbow shall be seen in the cloud;14Whenever I bring clouds over the earth and the rainbow becomes visible in the clouds,
and I will remember My covenant which is between Me and you and every living creature of all flesh; the waters shall never again become a flood to destroy all flesh.15I'll remember my covenant between me and you and every living creature, so that water will never again become a flood to destroy all living beings.
The rainbow shall be in the cloud, and I will look on it to remember the everlasting covenant between God and every living creature of all flesh that is on the earth.”16When the rainbow is in the clouds, I will observe it and remember the everlasting covenant between God and all living beings on the earth."
And God said to Noah, “This is the sign of the covenant which I have established between Me and all flesh that is on the earth.”17God also told Noah, "This is the symbol of the covenant that I've established between me and everything that lives on the earth."
Now the sons of Noah who went out of the ark were Shem, Ham, and Japheth. And Ham was the father of Canaan.18Noah's sons who came out of the ark were Shem, Ham, and Japheth. (Ham later fathered Canaan.)
These three were the sons of Noah, and from these the whole earth was populated.19These three were Noah's sons, and from these men the whole earth was repopulated.
And Noah began to be a farmer, and he planted a vineyard.20Noah, a man of the soil, was the first to plant and farm a vineyard.
Then he drank of the wine and was drunk, and became uncovered in his tent.21He drank some of the wine, got drunk, and lay down naked right in the middle of his tent.
And Ham, the father of Canaan, saw the nakedness of his father, and told his two brothers outside.22Ham, who fathered Canaan, saw his father's genitals and told his two brothers outside.
But Shem and Japheth took a garment, laid it on both their shoulders, and went backward and covered the nakedness of their father. Their faces were turned away, and they did not see their father’s nakedness.23Then Shem and Japheth took their father's cloak, laid it across both their shoulders, and walking backwards, they both covered their father's genitals. Their faces were turned away, and they did not see their father's genitals.
So Noah awoke from his wine, and knew what his younger son had done to him.24When Noah sobered up and learned what his youngest son had done to him,
Then he said: “Cursed be Canaan; A servant of servants He shall be to his brethren.”25he said, "Canaan is cursed! He will be the lowest of slaves to his relatives."
And he said: “Blessed be the LORD, The God of Shem, And may Canaan be his servant.26He also said, "Blessed be the LORD God of Shem, and may Canaan be his slave.
May God enlarge Japheth, And may he dwell in the tents of Shem; And may Canaan be his servant.”27May God make room for Japheth; may God live in Shem's tents, and may Canaan serve him."
And Noah lived after the flood three hundred and fifty years.28Noah lived 350 years after the flood.
So all the days of Noah were nine hundred and fifty years; and he died.29After Noah had lived a total of 950 years, he died.
