People gather such branches, throw them into a fire, and they are burned up. |

| 8By this My Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit; so you will be My disciples. | 8This is how my Father is glorified, when you produce a lot of fruit and so prove to be my disciples. |

| 10If you keep My commandments, you will abide in My love, just as I have kept My Father’s commandments and abide in His love. | 10If you keep my commandments, you'll abide in my love, just as I have kept my Father's commandments and abide in his love. |
| 11“These things I have spoken to you, that My joy may remain in you, and that your joy may be full. | 11I've told you this, so that my joy may be in you, and that your joy may be complete. |

| 16You did not choose Me, but I chose you and appointed you that you should go and bear fruit, and that your fruit should remain, that whatever you ask the Father in My name He may give you. | 16"You have not chosen me, but I have chosen you. I have appointed you to go and produce fruit that will last, so that whatever you ask the Father in my name, he will give it to you. |
| 17These things I command you, that you love one another. | 17I am giving you these commandments so that you may love one another." |
| 18“If the world hates you, you know that it hated Me before it hated you. | 18"If the world hates you, you should realize that it hated me before you. |
| 19If you were of the world, the world would love its own. Yet because you are not of the world, but I chose you out of the world, therefore the world hates you. | 19If you belonged to the world, the world would love you as one of its own. But because you do not belong to the world and I have chosen you out of it, the world hates you. |
| 20Remember the word that I said to you, ‘A servant is not greater than his master.’ If they persecuted Me, they will also persecute you. If they kept My word, they will keep yours also. | 20Remember what I told you: 'A servant is not greater than his master.' If they persecuted me, they will also persecute you. If they kept my word, they will also keep yours. |
| 21But all these things they will do to you for My name’s sake, because they do not know Him who sent Me. | 21They will do all these things to you on account of my name, because they do not know the one who sent me. |
| 22If I had not come and spoken to them, they would have no sin, but now they have no excuse for their sin. | 22"If I had not come and spoken to them, they would not have any sin. But now they have no excuse for their sin. |
| 23He who hates Me hates My Father also. | 23The person who hates me also hates my Father. |
| 24If I had not done among them the works which no one else did, they would have no sin; but now they have seen and also hated both Me and My Father. | 24If I hadn't done among them the actions that no one else did, they wouldn't have any sin. But now they have seen and hated both me and my Father. |
| 25But this happened that the word might be fulfilled which is written in their law, ‘They hated Me without a cause.’ | 25But this happened so that what has been written in their Law might be fulfilled: 'They hated me for no reason.' |
| 26“But when the Helper comes, whom I shall send to you from the Father, the Spirit of truth who proceeds from the Father, He will testify of Me. | 26"When the Helper comes, whom I will send to you from the Father— the Spirit of Truth, who comes from the Father—he will testify on my behalf. |
| 27And you also will bear witness, because you have been with Me from the beginning. | 27You will testify also, because you have been with me from the beginning. |
