Psalm 48
NKJV Parallel ISV [BSB CSB ESV HCS KJV ISV NAS NET NIV NLT HEB]
New King James VersionInternational Standard Version
A Song. A Psalm of the sons of Korah. Great is the LORD, and greatly to be praised In the city of our God, In His holy mountain.1Great is the LORD! For he is to be praised greatly, even in the city of our God, his holy mountain.
Beautiful in elevation, The joy of the whole earth, Is Mount Zion on the sides of the north, The city of the great King.2Beautifully situated, the joy of all the earth, Mount Zion towards the north, the city of the great King.
God is in her palaces; He is known as her refuge.3Within her citadels God is known as a place of refuge.
For behold, the kings assembled, They passed by together.4Behold, when the kings assembled together, when they traveled together,
They saw it, and so they marveled; They were troubled, they hastened away.5they looked and were awestruck; they became afraid and ran away.
Fear took hold of them there, And pain, as of a woman in birth pangs,6Trembling seized them there, pains like those of a woman in labor,
As when You break the ships of Tarshish With an east wind.7as when an east wind destroyed the ships of Tarshish.
As we have heard, So we have seen In the city of the LORD of hosts, In the city of our God: God will establish it forever. Selah8Just as we have heard, so have we seen; in the city of the LORD of the heavenly armies— even in the city of our God— God will establish her forever. Interlude
We have thought, O God, on Your lovingkindness, In the midst of Your temple.9God, we have meditated on your gracious love in the midst of your Temple.
According to Your name, O God, So is Your praise to the ends of the earth; Your right hand is full of righteousness.10God, according to your name, so is your praise to the ends of the earth. Your right hand is filled with righteousness.
Let Mount Zion rejoice, Let the daughters of Judah be glad, Because of Your judgments.11Mount Zion will be glad; the towns of Judah will rejoice because of your judgments.
Walk about Zion, And go all around her. Count her towers;12March around Zion; encircle her; count her towers.
Mark well her bulwarks; Consider her palaces; That you may tell it to the generation following.13Take note of her ramparts; investigate her citadels; that you may speak about them to the next generation.
For this is God, Our God forever and ever; He will be our guide Even to death.14For this God is our God forever and ever. He will guide us until death.
