Psalm 83
NKJV Parallel ISV [BSB CSB ESV HCS KJV ISV NAS NET NIV NLT HEB]
New King James VersionInternational Standard Version
A Song. A Psalm of Asaph. Do not keep silent, O God! Do not hold Your peace, And do not be still, O God!1God, do not rest! Don't be silent! Don't stay inactive, God!
For behold, Your enemies make a tumult; And those who hate You have lifted up their head.2See! Your enemies rage; those who hate you issue threats.
They have taken crafty counsel against Your people, And consulted together against Your sheltered ones.3They plot against your people and conspire against your cherished ones.
They have said, “Come, and let us cut them off from being a nation, That the name of Israel may be remembered no more.”4They say, "Let us go and erase them as a nation so the name of Israel will not be remembered anymore."
For they have consulted together with one consent; They form a confederacy against You:5Indeed, they shrewdly planned together, forming an alliance against you—
The tents of Edom and the Ishmaelites; Moab and the Hagrites;6the tents of Edom, the Ishmaelites, Moab, the Hagrites,
Gebal, Ammon, and Amalek; Philistia with the inhabitants of Tyre;7Gebal, Ammon, Amalek, Philistia, and the inhabitants of Tyre.
Assyria also has joined with them; They have helped the children of Lot. Selah8Even Assyria joined them to strengthen the descendants of Lot. Interlude
Deal with them as with Midian, As with Sisera, As with Jabin at the Brook Kishon,9Deal with them as you did to Midian, Sisera, and Jabin at the Kishon Brook.
Who perished at En Dor, Who became as refuse on the earth.10They were destroyed at En-dor and became as dung on the ground.
Make their nobles like Oreb and like Zeeb, Yes, all their princes like Zebah and Zalmunna,11Punish their nobles like Oreb and Zeeb, and all their princes like Zebah and Zalmunna,
Who said, “Let us take for ourselves The pastures of God for a possession.”12who said, "Let us possess the pastures of God."
O my God, make them like the whirling dust, Like the chaff before the wind!13God, set them up like dried thistles, like straw before the wind.
As the fire burns the woods, And as the flame sets the mountains on fire,14Like a fire burning a forest, and a flame setting mountains ablaze.
So pursue them with Your tempest, And frighten them with Your storm.15Pursue them with your storm and terrify them with your whirlwind.
Fill their faces with shame, That they may seek Your name, O LORD.16Fill their faces with shame until they seek your name, God.
Let them be confounded and dismayed forever; Yes, let them be put to shame and perish,17Let them be humiliated and terrified permanently until they die in shame.
That they may know that You, whose name alone is the LORD, Are the Most High over all the earth.18Then they will know that you alone— whose name is LORD— are the Most High over all the earth.
