A Song of Ascents. LORD, remember David And all his afflictions;1A Song of degrees. LORD, remember David, and all his afflictions:
How he swore to the LORD, And vowed to the Mighty One of Jacob:2How he sware unto the LORD, and vowed unto the mighty God of Jacob;
“Surely I will not go into the chamber of my house, Or go up to the comfort of my bed;3Surely I will not come into the tabernacle of my house, nor go up into my bed;
I will not give sleep to my eyes Or slumber to my eyelids,4I will not give sleep to mine eyes, or slumber to mine eyelids,
Until I find a place for the LORD, A dwelling place for the Mighty One of Jacob.”5Until I find out a place for the LORD, an habitation for the mighty God of Jacob.
Behold, we heard of it in Ephrathah; We found it in the fields of the woods.6Lo, we heard of it at Ephratah: we found it in the fields of the wood.
Let us go into His tabernacle; Let us worship at His footstool.7We will go into his tabernacles: we will worship at his footstool.
Arise, O LORD, to Your resting place, You and the ark of Your strength.8Arise, O LORD, into thy rest; thou, and the ark of thy strength.
Let Your priests be clothed with righteousness, And let Your saints shout for joy.9Let thy priests be clothed with righteousness; and let thy saints shout for joy.
For Your servant David’s sake, Do not turn away the face of Your Anointed.10For thy servant David's sake turn not away the face of thine anointed.
The LORD has sworn in truth to David; He will not turn from it: “I will set upon your throne the fruit of your body.11The LORD hath sworn in truth unto David; he will not turn from it; Of the fruit of thy body will I set upon thy throne.
If your sons will keep My covenant And My testimony which I shall teach them, Their sons also shall sit upon your throne forevermore.”12If thy children will keep my covenant and my testimony that I shall teach them, their children shall also sit upon thy throne for evermore.
For the LORD has chosen Zion; He has desired it for His dwelling place:13For the LORD hath chosen Zion; he hath desired it for his habitation.
“This is My resting place forever; Here I will dwell, for I have desired it.14This is my rest for ever: here will I dwell; for I have desired it.
I will abundantly bless her provision; I will satisfy her poor with bread.15I will abundantly bless her provision: I will satisfy her poor with bread.
I will also clothe her priests with salvation, And her saints shall shout aloud for joy.16I will also clothe her priests with salvation: and her saints shall shout aloud for joy.
There I will make the horn of David grow; I will prepare a lamp for My Anointed.17There will I make the horn of David to bud: I have ordained a lamp for mine anointed.
His enemies I will clothe with shame, But upon Himself His crown shall flourish.”18His enemies will I clothe with shame: but upon himself shall his crown flourish.
