New King James VersionHolman Christian Standard Bible
A Song of Ascents. LORD, remember David And all his afflictions;1A song of ascents. LORD, remember David and all the hardships he endured,
How he swore to the LORD, And vowed to the Mighty One of Jacob:2and how he swore an oath to the LORD, making a vow to the Mighty One of Jacob:"
“Surely I will not go into the chamber of my house, Or go up to the comfort of my bed;3I will not enter my house or get into my bed,
I will not give sleep to my eyes Or slumber to my eyelids,4I will not allow my eyes to sleep or my eyelids to slumber
Until I find a place for the LORD, A dwelling place for the Mighty One of Jacob.”5until I find a place for the LORD, a dwelling for the Mighty One of Jacob."
Behold, we heard of it in Ephrathah; We found it in the fields of the woods.6We heard of the ark in Ephrathah; we found it in the fields of Jaar.
Let us go into His tabernacle; Let us worship at His footstool.7Let us go to His dwelling place; let us worship at His footstool.
Arise, O LORD, to Your resting place, You and the ark of Your strength.8Rise up, LORD, come to Your resting place, You and Your powerful ark.
Let Your priests be clothed with righteousness, And let Your saints shout for joy.9May Your priests be clothed with righteousness, and may Your godly people shout for joy.
For Your servant David’s sake, Do not turn away the face of Your Anointed.10Because of Your servant David, do not reject Your anointed one.
The LORD has sworn in truth to David; He will not turn from it: “I will set upon your throne the fruit of your body.11The LORD swore an oath to David, a promise He will not abandon:" I will set one of your descendants on your throne.
If your sons will keep My covenant And My testimony which I shall teach them, Their sons also shall sit upon your throne forevermore.”12If your sons keep My covenant and My decrees that I will teach them, their sons will also sit on your throne forever."
For the LORD has chosen Zion; He has desired it for His dwelling place:13For the LORD has chosen Zion; He has desired it for His home:"
“This is My resting place forever; Here I will dwell, for I have desired it.14This is My resting place forever; I will make My home here because I have desired it.
I will abundantly bless her provision; I will satisfy her poor with bread.15I will abundantly bless its food; I will satisfy its needy with bread.
I will also clothe her priests with salvation, And her saints shall shout aloud for joy.16I will clothe its priests with salvation, and its godly people will shout for joy.
There I will make the horn of David grow; I will prepare a lamp for My Anointed.17There I will make a horn grow for David; I have prepared a lamp for My anointed one.
His enemies I will clothe with shame, But upon Himself His crown shall flourish.”18I will clothe his enemies with shame, but the crown he wears will be glorious."
