New King James VersionNET Bible
“Now take Aaron your brother, and his sons with him, from among the children of Israel, that he may minister to Me as priest, Aaron and Aaron’s sons: Nadab, Abihu, Eleazar, and Ithamar.1"And you, bring near to you your brother Aaron and his sons with him from among the Israelites, so that they may minister as my priests--Aaron, Nadab and Abihu, Eleazar and Ithamar, Aaron's sons.
And you shall make holy garments for Aaron your brother, for glory and for beauty.2You must make holy garments for your brother Aaron, for glory and for beauty.
So you shall speak to all who are gifted artisans, whom I have filled with the spirit of wisdom, that they may make Aaron’s garments, to consecrate him, that he may minister to Me as priest.3You are to speak to all who are specially skilled, whom I have filled with the spirit of wisdom, so that they may make Aaron's garments to set him apart to minister as my priest.
And these are the garments which they shall make: a breastplate, an ephod, a robe, a skillfully woven tunic, a turban, and a sash. So they shall make holy garments for Aaron your brother and his sons, that he may minister to Me as priest.4Now these are the garments that they are to make: a breastpiece, an ephod, a robe, a fitted tunic, a turban, and a sash. They are to make holy garments for your brother Aaron and for his sons, that they may minister as my priests.
“They shall take the gold, blue, purple, and scarlet thread, and the fine linen,5The artisans are to use the gold, blue, purple, scarlet, and fine linen.
and they shall make the ephod of gold, blue, purple, and scarlet thread, and fine woven linen, artistically worked.6"They are to make the ephod of gold, blue, purple, scarlet, and fine twisted linen, the work of an artistic designer.
It shall have two shoulder straps joined at its two edges, and so it shall be joined together.7It is to have two shoulder pieces attached to two of its corners, so it can be joined together.
And the intricately woven band of the ephod, which is on it, shall be of the same workmanship, made of gold, blue, purple, and scarlet thread, and fine woven linen.8The artistically woven waistband of the ephod that is on it is to be like it, of one piece with the ephod, of gold, blue, purple, scarlet, and fine twisted linen.
“Then you shall take two onyx stones and engrave on them the names of the sons of Israel:9"You are to take two onyx stones and engrave on them the names of the sons of Israel,
six of their names on one stone and six names on the other stone, in order of their birth.10six of their names on one stone, and the six remaining names on the second stone, according to the order of their birth.
With the work of an engraver in stone, like the engravings of a signet, you shall engrave the two stones with the names of the sons of Israel. You shall set them in settings of gold.11You are to engrave the two stones with the names of the sons of Israel with the work of an engraver in stone, like the engravings of a seal; you are to have them set in gold filigree settings.
And you shall put the two stones on the shoulders of the ephod as memorial stones for the sons of Israel. So Aaron shall bear their names before the LORD on his two shoulders as a memorial.12You are to put the two stones on the shoulders of the ephod, stones of memorial for the sons of Israel, and Aaron will bear their names before the LORD on his two shoulders for a memorial.
You shall also make settings of gold,13You are to make filigree settings of gold
and you shall make two chains of pure gold like braided cords, and fasten the braided chains to the settings.14and two braided chains of pure gold, like a cord, and attach the chains to the settings.
“You shall make the breastplate of judgment. Artistically woven according to the workmanship of the ephod you shall make it: of gold, blue, purple, and scarlet thread, and fine woven linen, you shall make it.15"You are to make a breastpiece for use in making decisions, the work of an artistic designer; you are to make it in the same fashion as the ephod; you are to make it of gold, blue, purple, scarlet, and fine twisted linen.
It shall be doubled into a square: a span shall be its length, and a span shall be its width.16It is to be square when doubled, nine inches long and nine inches wide.
And you shall put settings of stones in it, four rows of stones: The first row shall be a sardius, a topaz, and an emerald; this shall be the first row;17You are to set in it a setting for stones, four rows of stones, a row with a ruby, a topaz, and a beryl--the first row;
the second row shall be a turquoise, a sapphire, and a diamond;18and the second row, a turquoise, a sapphire, and an emerald;
the third row, a jacinth, an agate, and an amethyst;19and the third row, a jacinth, an agate, and an amethyst;
and the fourth row, a beryl, an onyx, and a jasper. They shall be set in gold settings.20and the fourth row, a chrysolite, an onyx, and a jasper. They are to be enclosed in gold in their filigree settings.
And the stones shall have the names of the sons of Israel, twelve according to their names, like the engravings of a signet, each one with its own name; they shall be according to the twelve tribes.21The stones are to be for the names of the sons of Israel, twelve, according to the number of their names. Each name according to the twelve tribes is to be like the engravings of a seal.
“You shall make chains for the breastplate at the end, like braided cords of pure gold.22"You are to make for the breastpiece braided chains like cords of pure gold,
And you shall make two rings of gold for the breastplate, and put the two rings on the two ends of the breastplate.23and you are to make for the breastpiece two gold rings and attach the two rings to the upper two ends of the breastpiece.
Then you shall put the two braided chains of gold in the two rings which are on the ends of the breastplate;24You are to attach the two gold chains to the two rings at the ends of the breastpiece;
and the other two ends of the two braided chains you shall fasten to the two settings, and put them on the shoulder straps of the ephod in the front.25the other two ends of the two chains you will attach to the two settings and then attach them to the shoulder pieces of the ephod at the front of it.
“You shall make two rings of gold, and put them on the two ends of the breastplate, on the edge of it, which is on the inner side of the ephod.26You are to make two rings of gold and put them on the other two ends of the breastpiece, on its edge that is on the inner side of the ephod.
And two other rings of gold you shall make, and put them on the two shoulder straps, underneath the ephod toward its front, right at the seam above the intricately woven band of the ephod.27You are to make two more gold rings and attach them to the bottom of the two shoulder pieces on the front of the ephod, close to the juncture above the waistband of the ephod.
They shall bind the breastplate by means of its rings to the rings of the ephod, using a blue cord, so that it is above the intricately woven band of the ephod, and so that the breastplate does not come loose from the ephod.28They are to tie the breastpiece by its rings to the rings of the ephod by blue cord, so that it may be above the waistband of the ephod, and so that the breastpiece will not be loose from the ephod.
“So Aaron shall bear the names of the sons of Israel on the breastplate of judgment over his heart, when he goes into the holy place, as a memorial before the LORD continually.29Aaron will bear the names of the sons of Israel in the breastpiece of decision over his heart when he goes into the holy place, for a memorial before the LORD continually.
And you shall put in the breastplate of judgment the Urim and the Thummim, and they shall be over Aaron’s heart when he goes in before the LORD. So Aaron shall bear the judgment of the children of Israel over his heart before the LORD continually.30"You are to put the Urim and the Thummim into the breastpiece of decision; and they are to be over Aaron's heart when he goes in before the LORD. Aaron is to bear the decisions of the Israelites over his heart before the LORD continually.
“You shall make the robe of the ephod all of blue.31"You are to make the robe of the ephod completely blue.
There shall be an opening for his head in the middle of it; it shall have a woven binding all around its opening, like the opening in a coat of mail, so that it does not tear.32There is to be an opening in its top in the center of it, with an edge all around the opening, the work of a weaver, like the opening of a collar, so that it cannot be torn.
And upon its hem you shall make pomegranates of blue, purple, and scarlet, all around its hem, and bells of gold between them all around:33You are to make pomegranates of blue, purple, and scarlet all around its hem and bells of gold between them all around.
a golden bell and a pomegranate, a golden bell and a pomegranate, upon the hem of the robe all around.34The pattern is to be a gold bell and a pomegranate, a gold bell and a pomegranate, all around the hem of the robe.
And it shall be upon Aaron when he ministers, and its sound will be heard when he goes into the holy place before the LORD and when he comes out, that he may not die.35The robe is to be on Aaron as he ministers, and his sound will be heard when he enters the Holy Place before the LORD and when he leaves, so that he does not die.
“You shall also make a plate of pure gold and engrave on it, like the engraving of a signet: HOLINESS TO THE LORD.36"You are to make a plate of pure gold and engrave on it the way a seal is engraved: "Holiness to the LORD."
And you shall put it on a blue cord, that it may be on the turban; it shall be on the front of the turban.37You are to attach to it a blue cord so that it will be on the turban; it is to be on the front of the turban,
So it shall be on Aaron’s forehead, that Aaron may bear the iniquity of the holy things which the children of Israel hallow in all their holy gifts; and it shall always be on his forehead, that they may be accepted before the LORD.38It will be on Aaron's forehead, and Aaron will bear the iniquity of the holy things, which the Israelites are to sanctify by all their holy gifts; it will always be on his forehead, for their acceptance before the LORD.
“You shall skillfully weave the tunic of fine linen thread, you shall make the turban of fine linen, and you shall make the sash of woven work.39You are to weave the tunic of fine linen and make the turban of fine linen, and make the sash the work of an embroiderer.
“For Aaron’s sons you shall make tunics, and you shall make sashes for them. And you shall make hats for them, for glory and beauty.40"For Aaron's sons you are to make tunics, sashes, and headbands for glory and for beauty.
So you shall put them on Aaron your brother and on his sons with him. You shall anoint them, consecrate them, and sanctify them, that they may minister to Me as priests.41"You are to clothe them--your brother Aaron and his sons with him--and anoint them and ordain them and set them apart as holy, so that they may minister as my priests.
And you shall make for them linen trousers to cover their nakedness; they shall reach from the waist to the thighs.42Make for them linen undergarments to cover their naked bodies; they must cover from the waist to the thighs.
They shall be on Aaron and on his sons when they come into the tabernacle of meeting, or when they come near the altar to minister in the holy place, that they do not incur iniquity and die. It shall be a statute forever to him and his descendants after him.43These must be on Aaron and his sons when they enter to the tent of meeting, or when they approach the altar to minister in the Holy Place, so that they bear no iniquity and die. It is to be a perpetual ordinance for him and for his descendants after him.
