To the Chief Musician. A Psalm of the sons of Korah. A Song for Alamoth. God is our refuge and strength, A very present help in trouble.1For the music director; by the Korahites; according to the alamoth style; a song. God is our strong refuge; he is truly our helper in times of trouble.
Therefore we will not fear, Even though the earth be removed, And though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea;2For this reason we do not fear when the earth shakes, and the mountains tumble into the depths of the sea,
Though its waters roar and be troubled, Though the mountains shake with its swelling. Selah3when its waves crash and foam, and the mountains shake before the surging sea. (Selah)
There is a river whose streams shall make glad the city of God, The holy place of the tabernacle of the Most High.4The river's channels bring joy to the city of God, the special, holy dwelling place of the sovereign One.
God is in the midst of her, she shall not be moved; God shall help her, just at the break of dawn.5God lives within it, it cannot be moved. God rescues it at the break of dawn.
The nations raged, the kingdoms were moved; He uttered His voice, the earth melted.6Nations are in uproar, kingdoms are overthrown. God gives a shout, the earth dissolves.
The LORD of hosts is with us; The God of Jacob is our refuge. Selah7The LORD who commands armies is on our side! The God of Jacob is our protector! (Selah)
Come, behold the works of the LORD, Who has made desolations in the earth.8Come! Witness the exploits of the LORD, who brings devastation to the earth!
He makes wars cease to the end of the earth; He breaks the bow and cuts the spear in two; He burns the chariot in the fire.9He brings an end to wars throughout the earth; he shatters the bow and breaks the spear; he burns the shields with fire.
Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth!10He says, "Stop your striving and recognize that I am God! I will be exalted over the nations! I will be exalted over the earth!"
The LORD of hosts is with us; The God of Jacob is our refuge. Selah11The LORD who commands armies is on our side! The God of Jacob is our protector! (Selah)
