To the Chief Musician. A Psalm of the sons of Korah. A Song for Alamoth. God is our refuge and strength, A very present help in trouble.1God is our refuge and strength, always ready to help in times of trouble.
Therefore we will not fear, Even though the earth be removed, And though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea;2So we will not fear when earthquakes come and the mountains crumble into the sea.
Though its waters roar and be troubled, Though the mountains shake with its swelling. Selah3Let the oceans roar and foam. Let the mountains tremble as the waters surge! Interlude
There is a river whose streams shall make glad the city of God, The holy place of the tabernacle of the Most High.4A river brings joy to the city of our God, the sacred home of the Most High.
God is in the midst of her, she shall not be moved; God shall help her, just at the break of dawn.5God dwells in that city; it cannot be destroyed. From the very break of day, God will protect it.
The nations raged, the kingdoms were moved; He uttered His voice, the earth melted.6The nations are in chaos, and their kingdoms crumble! God’s voice thunders, and the earth melts!
The LORD of hosts is with us; The God of Jacob is our refuge. Selah7The LORD of Heaven’s Armies is here among us; the God of Israel is our fortress. Interlude
Come, behold the works of the LORD, Who has made desolations in the earth.8Come, see the glorious works of the LORD: See how he brings destruction upon the world.
He makes wars cease to the end of the earth; He breaks the bow and cuts the spear in two; He burns the chariot in the fire.9He causes wars to end throughout the earth. He breaks the bow and snaps the spear; he burns the shields with fire.
Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth!10“Be still, and know that I am God! I will be honored by every nation. I will be honored throughout the world.”
The LORD of hosts is with us; The God of Jacob is our refuge. Selah11The LORD of Heaven’s Armies is here among us; the God of Israel is our fortress. Interlude
