Psalm 17
NKJV Parallel NLT [BSB CSB ESV HCS KJV ISV NAS NET NIV NLT HEB]
New King James VersionNew Living Translation
A Prayer of David. Hear a just cause, O LORD, Attend to my cry; Give ear to my prayer which is not from deceitful lips.1O LORD, hear my plea for justice. Listen to my cry for help. Pay attention to my prayer, for it comes from honest lips.
Let my vindication come from Your presence; Let Your eyes look on the things that are upright.2Declare me innocent, for you see those who do right.
You have tested my heart; You have visited me in the night; You have tried me and have found nothing; I have purposed that my mouth shall not transgress.3You have tested my thoughts and examined my heart in the night. You have scrutinized me and found nothing wrong. I am determined not to sin in what I say.
Concerning the works of men, By the word of Your lips, I have kept away from the paths of the destroyer.4I have followed your commands, which keep me from following cruel and evil people.
Uphold my steps in Your paths, That my footsteps may not slip.5My steps have stayed on your path; I have not wavered from following you.
I have called upon You, for You will hear me, O God; Incline Your ear to me, and hear my speech.6I am praying to you because I know you will answer, O God. Bend down and listen as I pray.
Show Your marvelous lovingkindness by Your right hand, O You who save those who trust in You From those who rise up against them.7Show me your unfailing love in wonderful ways. By your mighty power you rescue those who seek refuge from their enemies.
Keep me as the apple of Your eye; Hide me under the shadow of Your wings,8Guard me as you would guard your own eyes. Hide me in the shadow of your wings.
From the wicked who oppress me, From my deadly enemies who surround me.9Protect me from wicked people who attack me, from murderous enemies who surround me.
They have closed up their fat hearts; With their mouths they speak proudly.10They are without pity. Listen to their boasting!
They have now surrounded us in our steps; They have set their eyes, crouching down to the earth,11They track me down and surround me, watching for the chance to throw me to the ground.
As a lion is eager to tear his prey, And like a young lion lurking in secret places.12They are like hungry lions, eager to tear me apart— like young lions hiding in ambush.
Arise, O LORD, Confront him, cast him down; Deliver my life from the wicked with Your sword,13Arise, O LORD! Stand against them, and bring them to their knees! Rescue me from the wicked with your sword!
With Your hand from men, O LORD, From men of the world who have their portion in this life, And whose belly You fill with Your hidden treasure. They are satisfied with children, And leave the rest of their possession for their babes.14By the power of your hand, O LORD, destroy those who look to this world for their reward. But satisfy the hunger of your treasured ones. May their children have plenty, leaving an inheritance for their descendants.
As for me, I will see Your face in righteousness; I shall be satisfied when I awake in Your likeness.15Because I am righteous, I will see you. When I awake, I will see you face to face and be satisfied.
