Psalm 48
NLT Parallel BSB [BSB CSB ESV HCS KJV ISV NAS NET NIV NLT HEB]
New Living TranslationBerean Study Bible
How great is the LORD, how deserving of praise, in the city of our God, which sits on his holy mountain!1A song. A Psalm of the sons of Korah. Great is the LORD, and greatly to be praised in the city of our God, His holy mountain.
It is high and magnificent; the whole earth rejoices to see it! Mount Zion, the holy mountain, is the city of the great King!2Beautiful in loftiness, the joy of all the earth, like the peaks of Zaphon is Mount Zion, the city of the great King.
God himself is in Jerusalem’s towers, revealing himself as its defender.3God is in her citadels; He has shown Himself to be a fortress.
The kings of the earth joined forces and advanced against the city.4For behold, the kings assembled; they all advanced together.
But when they saw it, they were stunned; they were terrified and ran away.5They saw and were astounded; they fled in terror.
They were gripped with terror and writhed in pain like a woman in labor.6Trembling seized them there, anguish like a woman in labor.
You destroyed them like the mighty ships of Tarshish shattered by a powerful east wind.7With a wind from the east You wrecked the ships of Tarshish.
We had heard of the city’s glory, but now we have seen it ourselves— the city of the LORD of Heaven’s Armies. It is the city of our God; he will make it safe forever. Interlude8As we have heard, so we have seen in the city of the LORD of Hosts, in the city of our God: God will establish her forever. Selah
O God, we meditate on your unfailing love as we worship in your Temple.9Within Your temple, O God, we contemplate Your loving devotion.
As your name deserves, O God, you will be praised to the ends of the earth. Your strong right hand is filled with victory.10Your name, O God, like Your praise, reaches to the ends of the earth; Your right hand is full of righteousness.
Let the people on Mount Zion rejoice. Let all the towns of Judah be glad because of your justice.11Mount Zion is glad, the daughters of Judah rejoice, on account of Your judgments.
Go, inspect the city of Jerusalem. Walk around and count the many towers.12March around Zion, encircle her, count her towers,
Take note of the fortified walls, and tour all the citadels, that you may describe them to future generations.13consider her ramparts, tour her citadels, that you may tell the next generation.
For that is what God is like. He is our God forever and ever, and he will guide us until we die.14For this God is our God forever and ever; He will be our guide even till death.
