When I looked again, I saw a man with a measuring line in his hand.1I looked up and saw a man with a measuring line in his hand.
“Where are you going?” I asked. He replied, “I am going to measure Jerusalem, to see how wide and how long it is.”2I asked, "Where are you going?" He answered me, "To measure Jerusalem to determine its width and length."
Then the angel who was with me went to meet a second angel who was coming toward him.3Then the angel who was speaking with me went out, and another angel went out to meet him.
The other angel said, “Hurry, and say to that young man, ‘Jerusalem will someday be so full of people and livestock that there won’t be room enough for everyone! Many will live outside the city walls.4He said to him, "Run and tell this young man: Jerusalem will be inhabited without walls because of the number of people and livestock in it."
Then I, myself, will be a protective wall of fire around Jerusalem, says the LORD. And I will be the glory inside the city!’” The Exiles Are Called Home5The declaration of the LORD: "I myself will be a wall of fire around it, and I will be the glory within it."
The LORD says, “Come away! Flee from Babylon in the land of the north, for I have scattered you to the four winds.6"Listen! Listen! Flee from the land of the north"--this is the LORD's declaration--"for I have scattered you like the four winds of heaven"--this is the LORD's declaration.
Come away, people of Zion, you who are exiled in Babylon!”7"Listen, Zion! Escape, you who are living with Daughter Babylon."
After a period of glory, the LORD of Heaven’s Armies sent me against the nations who plundered you. For he said, “Anyone who harms you harms my most precious possession.8For the LORD of Armies says this: "In pursuit of his glory, he sent me against the nations plundering you, for whoever touches you touches the pupil of my eye.
I will raise my fist to crush them, and their own slaves will plunder them.” Then you will know that the LORD of Heaven’s Armies has sent me.9For look, I am raising my hand against them, and they will become plunder for their own servants. Then you will know that the LORD of Armies has sent me.
The LORD says, “Shout and rejoice, O beautiful Jerusalem, for I am coming to live among you.10"Daughter Zion, shout for joy and be glad, for I am coming to dwell among you"--this is the LORD's declaration.
Many nations will join themselves to the LORD on that day, and they, too, will be my people. I will live among you, and you will know that the LORD of Heaven’s Armies sent me to you.11"Many nations will join themselves to the LORD on that day and become my people. I will dwell among you, and you will know that the LORD of Armies has sent me to you.
The land of Judah will be the LORD’s special possession in the holy land, and he will once again choose Jerusalem to be his own city.12The LORD will take possession of Judah as his portion in the Holy Land, and he will once again choose Jerusalem.
Be silent before the LORD, all humanity, for he is springing into action from his holy dwelling.”13Let all people be silent before the LORD, for from his holy dwelling he has roused himself."
