| 1Hear my prayer, O LORD; listen to my plea! Answer me because you are faithful and righteous. | 1A Davidic psalm. LORD, hear my prayer. In Your faithfulness listen to my plea, and in Your righteousness answer me. |
| 2Don’t put your servant on trial, for no one is innocent before you. | 2Do not bring Your servant into judgment, for no one alive is righteous in Your sight. |
| 3My enemy has chased me. He has knocked me to the ground and forces me to live in darkness like those in the grave. | 3For the enemy has pursued me, crushing me to the ground, making me live in darkness like those long dead. |
| 4I am losing all hope; I am paralyzed with fear. | 4My spirit is weak within me; my heart is overcome with dismay. |
