Psalm 94
NLT Parallel HCSB [BSB CSB ESV HCS KJV ISV NAS NET NIV NLT HEB]
New Living TranslationHolman Christian Standard Bible
O LORD, the God of vengeance, O God of vengeance, let your glorious justice shine forth!1 LORD, God of vengeance-- God of vengeance, appear.
Arise, O Judge of the earth. Give the proud what they deserve.2Rise up, Judge of the earth; repay the proud what they deserve.
How long, O LORD? How long will the wicked be allowed to gloat?3 LORD, how long will the wicked-- how long will the wicked gloat?
How long will they speak with arrogance? How long will these evil people boast?4They pour out arrogant words; all the evildoers boast.
They crush your people, LORD, hurting those you claim as your own.5 LORD, they crush Your people; they afflict Your heritage.
They kill widows and foreigners and murder orphans.6They kill the widow and the foreigner and murder the fatherless.
“The LORD isn’t looking,” they say, “and besides, the God of Israel doesn’t care.”7They say, "The LORD doesn't see it. The God of Jacob doesn't pay attention."
Think again, you fools! When will you finally catch on?8Pay attention, you stupid people! Fools, when will you be wise?
Is he deaf—the one who made your ears? Is he blind—the one who formed your eyes?9Can the One who shaped the ear not hear, the One who formed the eye not see?
He punishes the nations—won’t he also punish you? He knows everything—doesn’t he also know what you are doing?10The One who instructs nations, the One who teaches man knowledge-- does He not discipline?
The LORD knows people’s thoughts; he knows they are worthless!11The LORD knows man's thoughts; they are meaningless.
Joyful are those you discipline, LORD, those you teach with your instructions.12 LORD, happy is the man You discipline and teach from Your law
You give them relief from troubled times until a pit is dug to capture the wicked.13to give him relief from troubled times until a pit is dug for the wicked.
The LORD will not reject his people; he will not abandon his special possession.14The LORD will not forsake His people or abandon His heritage,
Judgment will again be founded on justice, and those with virtuous hearts will pursue it.15for justice will again be righteous, and all the upright in heart will follow it.
Who will protect me from the wicked? Who will stand up for me against evildoers?16Who stands up for me against the wicked? Who takes a stand for me against evildoers?
Unless the LORD had helped me, I would soon have settled in the silence of the grave.17If the LORD had not been my helper, I would soon rest in the silence of death.
I cried out, “I am slipping!” but your unfailing love, O LORD, supported me.18If I say, "My foot is slipping," Your faithful love will support me, LORD.
When doubts filled my mind, your comfort gave me renewed hope and cheer.19When I am filled with cares, Your comfort brings me joy.
Can unjust leaders claim that God is on their side— leaders whose decrees permit injustice?20Can a corrupt throne-- one that creates trouble by law-- become Your ally?
They gang up against the righteous and condemn the innocent to death.21They band together against the life of the righteous and condemn the innocent to death.
But the LORD is my fortress; my God is the mighty rock where I hide.22But the LORD is my refuge; my God is the rock of my protection.
God will turn the sins of evil people back on them. He will destroy them for their sins. The LORD our God will destroy them.23He will pay them back for their sins and destroy them for their evil. The LORD our God will destroy them.
