Psalm 94
NLT Parallel NIV [BSB CSB ESV HCS KJV ISV NAS NET NIV NLT HEB]
New Living TranslationNew International Version
O LORD, the God of vengeance, O God of vengeance, let your glorious justice shine forth!1The LORD is a God who avenges. O God who avenges, shine forth.
Arise, O Judge of the earth. Give the proud what they deserve.2Rise up, Judge of the earth; pay back to the proud what they deserve.
How long, O LORD? How long will the wicked be allowed to gloat?3How long, LORD, will the wicked, how long will the wicked be jubilant?
How long will they speak with arrogance? How long will these evil people boast?4They pour out arrogant words; all the evildoers are full of boasting.
They crush your people, LORD, hurting those you claim as your own.5They crush your people, LORD; they oppress your inheritance.
They kill widows and foreigners and murder orphans.6They slay the widow and the foreigner; they murder the fatherless.
“The LORD isn’t looking,” they say, “and besides, the God of Israel doesn’t care.”7They say, "The LORD does not see; the God of Jacob takes no notice."
Think again, you fools! When will you finally catch on?8Take notice, you senseless ones among the people; you fools, when will you become wise?
Is he deaf—the one who made your ears? Is he blind—the one who formed your eyes?9Does he who fashioned the ear not hear? Does he who formed the eye not see?
He punishes the nations—won’t he also punish you? He knows everything—doesn’t he also know what you are doing?10Does he who disciplines nations not punish? Does he who teaches mankind lack knowledge?
The LORD knows people’s thoughts; he knows they are worthless!11The LORD knows all human plans; he knows that they are futile.
Joyful are those you discipline, LORD, those you teach with your instructions.12Blessed is the one you discipline, LORD, the one you teach from your law;
You give them relief from troubled times until a pit is dug to capture the wicked.13you grant them relief from days of trouble, till a pit is dug for the wicked.
The LORD will not reject his people; he will not abandon his special possession.14For the LORD will not reject his people; he will never forsake his inheritance.
Judgment will again be founded on justice, and those with virtuous hearts will pursue it.15Judgment will again be founded on righteousness, and all the upright in heart will follow it.
Who will protect me from the wicked? Who will stand up for me against evildoers?16Who will rise up for me against the wicked? Who will take a stand for me against evildoers?
Unless the LORD had helped me, I would soon have settled in the silence of the grave.17Unless the LORD had given me help, I would soon have dwelt in the silence of death.
I cried out, “I am slipping!” but your unfailing love, O LORD, supported me.18When I said, "My foot is slipping," your unfailing love, LORD, supported me.
When doubts filled my mind, your comfort gave me renewed hope and cheer.19When anxiety was great within me, your consolation brought me joy.
Can unjust leaders claim that God is on their side— leaders whose decrees permit injustice?20Can a corrupt throne be allied with you-- a throne that brings on misery by its decrees?
They gang up against the righteous and condemn the innocent to death.21The wicked band together against the righteous and condemn the innocent to death.
But the LORD is my fortress; my God is the mighty rock where I hide.22But the LORD has become my fortress, and my God the rock in whom I take refuge.
God will turn the sins of evil people back on them. He will destroy them for their sins. The LORD our God will destroy them.23He will repay them for their sins and destroy them for their wickedness; the LORD our God will destroy them.
