Ezekiel 43
NLT Parallel ISV [BSB CSB ESV HCS KJV ISV NAS NET NIV NLT HEB]
New Living TranslationInternational Standard Version
After this, the man brought me back around to the east gateway.1Next, he brought me to the east-facing gate,
Suddenly, the glory of the God of Israel appeared from the east. The sound of his coming was like the roar of rushing waters, and the whole landscape shone with his glory.2and the glory of the God of Israel was coming from the east. His voice sounded like roaring water, and the land shimmered from his glory.
This vision was just like the others I had seen, first by the Kebar River and then when he came to destroy Jerusalem. I fell face down on the ground.3His appearance in the vision that I was having was similar to what I observed in the vision where he had come to destroy the city, and also like the visions that I saw by the Chebar River. I fell flat on my face
And the glory of the LORD came into the Temple through the east gateway.4while the glory of the LORD entered the Temple through the east-facing gate.
Then the Spirit took me up and brought me into the inner courtyard, and the glory of the LORD filled the Temple.5Just then, the Spirit lifted me up and carried me into the inner courtyard, where the glory of the LORD was filling the Temple!
And I heard someone speaking to me from within the Temple, while the man who had been measuring stood beside me.6I heard someone speaking to me from the Temple, and a man appeared, standing beside me!
The LORD said to me, “Son of man, this is the place of my throne and the place where I will rest my feet. I will live here forever among the people of Israel. They and their kings will not defile my holy name any longer by their adulterous worship of other gods or by honoring the relics of their kings who have died.7"Son of Man," the Lord GOD told me, "This is where my throne is, where I place the soles of my feet, and where I will live among the Israelis forever. The house of Israel will no longer defile my holy name—neither they nor their kings—by their unfaithfulness, by the lifeless idols of their kings on their funeral mounds,
They put their idol altars right next to mine with only a wall between them and me. They defiled my holy name by such detestable sin, so I consumed them in my anger.8by their setting up their threshold too close to my threshold and their door post too close to my door post, with a wall between me and them. After all, they have defiled my holy name by the loathsome things that they did, so I devoured them in my anger.
Now let them stop worshiping other gods and honoring the relics of their kings, and I will live among them forever.9But now let them send their unfaithfulness—that is, the lifeless idols of their kings—far away from me, and I will live among them forever."
“Son of man, describe to the people of Israel the Temple I have shown you, so they will be ashamed of all their sins. Let them study its plan,10"And now, Son of Man, describe the Temple to the house of Israel. They will be ashamed because of their sin. They will measure its pattern.
and they will be ashamed of what they have done. Describe to them all the specifications of the Temple—including its entrances and exits—and everything else about it. Tell them about its decrees and laws. Write down all these specifications and decrees as they watch so they will be sure to remember and follow them.11If they are ashamed of everything that they've done, you are to reveal to them the design of the Temple, its structure, its exits and entrances, its plans, its ordinances, and all of its regulations. Write it down where they can see it and remember all of its designs and regulations, so they will implement them.
And this is the basic law of the Temple: absolute holiness! The entire top of the mountain where the Temple is built is holy. Yes, this is the basic law of the Temple. The Altar12This is to be the regulation for the Temple: the entire area on top of the mountain is to be considered wholly consecrated. This is to be the law of the Temple."
“These are the measurements of the altar : There is a gutter all around the altar 21 inches deep and 21 inches wide, with a curb 9 inches wide around its edge. And this is the height of the altar:13"Here are the measurements of the altar in cubits that were a cubit and a handbreadth long: its base is a cubit long and a cubit wide, and its border around the edge at one handbreadth is to be the height of the altar.
From the gutter the altar rises 3 1/2 feet to a lower ledge that surrounds the altar and is 21 inches wide. From the lower ledge the altar rises 7 feet to the upper ledge that is also 21 inches wide.14From the base on the ground to its lower edge is to be two cubits, with its width to be one cubit. From the lesser ledge to the larger edge is to be four cubits. Its width is to be one cubit.
The top of the altar, the hearth, rises another 7 feet higher, with a horn rising up from each of the four corners.15The hearth is to be four cubits high, and four horns are to extend upwards from the hearth.
The top of the altar is square, measuring 21 feet by 21 feet.16The hearth is to be twelve cubits long and twelve cubits wide; that is, it will be a four-sided square.
The upper ledge also forms a square, measuring 24 1/2 feet by 24 1/2 feet, with a 21-inch gutter and a 10 1/2 -inch curb all around the edge. There are steps going up the east side of the altar.”17It is to have a ledge fourteen cubits long by fourteen cubits wide around the four sides. Its border is to be half a cubit and its base is to be a cubit all around, with its steps facing east."
Then he said to me, “Son of man, this is what the Sovereign LORD says: These will be the regulations for the burning of offerings and the sprinkling of blood when the altar is built.18Then he told me, "This is what the Lord GOD says: 'These are the regulations for the altar, starting the day that it is constructed for presenting burnt offerings and sprinkling blood.
At that time, the Levitical priests of the family of Zadok, who minister before me, are to be given a young bull for a sin offering, says the Sovereign LORD.19You are to present to the Levitical priests, Zadok's descendants, who will approach me to serve me, a young bull for a sin offering,' declares the Lord GOD.
You will take some of its blood and smear it on the four horns of the altar, the four corners of the upper ledge, and the curb that runs around that ledge. This will cleanse and make atonement for the altar.20You are to take some of its blood and put it on the four horns of the altar, on the four corners of its ledge, and on the border that surrounds it, thus cleansing it and making an atonement for it.
Then take the young bull for the sin offering and burn it at the appointed place outside the Temple area.21You are also to present a bull for a sin offering, incinerating it in the appointed place at the Temple, outside the sanctuary.
“On the second day, sacrifice as a sin offering a young male goat that has no physical defects. Then cleanse and make atonement for the altar again, just as you did with the young bull.22The second day following commencement of offerings, you are to offer a male goat without defect for a sin offering to cleanse the altar the same way they cleansed it with the bull.
When you have finished the cleansing ceremony, offer another young bull that has no defects and a perfect ram from the flock.23After you've finished the cleansing, you are to present a young bull without defect and a ram from the flock without defect.
You are to present them to the LORD, and the priests are to sprinkle salt on them and offer them as a burnt offering to the LORD.24You are to present them in the LORD's presence, and the priests are to throw salt on them and then present them as a burnt offering to the LORD.
“Every day for seven days a male goat, a young bull, and a ram from the flock will be sacrificed as a sin offering. None of these animals may have physical defects of any kind.25Every day for a week, you are to prepare a goat for a sin offering, a young bull, and a ram from the flock, each without defect.
Do this each day for seven days to cleanse and make atonement for the altar, thus setting it apart for holy use.26For a seven day period they are to make atonement for the altar, purifying it and consecrating it.
On the eighth day, and on each day afterward, the priests will sacrifice on the altar the burnt offerings and peace offerings of the people. Then I will accept you. I, the Sovereign LORD, have spoken!”27When they will have completed this period, starting the next day, the priests are to offer your burnt offerings on the altar, along with your peace offerings, and I will accept you,' declares the Lord GOD."
