Psalm 127
NLT Parallel ISV [BSB CSB ESV HCS KJV ISV NAS NET NIV NLT HEB]
New Living TranslationInternational Standard Version
1Unless the LORD builds a house, the work of the builders is wasted. Unless the LORD protects a city, guarding it with sentries will do no good.1Unless the LORD builds the house, its builders labor uselessly. Unless the LORD guards the city, its security forces keep watch uselessly.
2It is useless for you to work so hard from early morning until late at night, anxiously working for food to eat; for God gives rest to his loved ones.2It is useless to get up early and to stay up late, eating the food of exhausting labor— truly he gives sleep to those he loves.
3Children are a gift from the LORD; they are a reward from him.3Children are a gift from the LORD; a productive womb, the LORD's reward.
4Children born to a young man are like arrows in a warrior’s hands.4As arrows in the hand of a warrior, so also are children born during one's youth.
5How joyful is the man whose quiver is full of them! He will not be put to shame when he confronts his accusers at the city gates.5How blessed is the man whose quiver is full of them! He will not be ashamed as they confront their enemies at the city gate.
