New Living TranslationInternational Standard Version
I looked up again and saw a scroll flying through the air.1Then I looked up and saw a flying scroll!
“What do you see?” the angel asked. “I see a flying scroll,” I replied. “It appears to be about 30 feet long and 15 feet wide. ”2And the angel asked me, "What do you see?" I answered him, "I'm looking at a flying scroll. It's 20 cubits long and ten cubits wide."
Then he said to me, “This scroll contains the curse that is going out over the entire land. One side of the scroll says that those who steal will be banished from the land; the other side says that those who swear falsely will be banished from the land.3He responded to me, "This is the curse that is going out over the surface of the whole earth, because, according to this side of the scroll, all thieves will be ejected, and according to the other side of the scroll, all liars will be ejected."
And this is what the LORD of Heaven’s Armies says: I am sending this curse into the house of every thief and into the house of everyone who swears falsely using my name. And my curse will remain in that house and completely destroy it—even its timbers and stones.” A Woman in a Basket4"I am bringing this about," declares the LORD of the Heavenly Armies. "The curse will enter the house of the thief and the house of the one who lies in my name. The curse will remain in his house until that house has been completely destroyed, right down to its timber and stones."
Then the angel who was talking with me came forward and said, “Look up and see what’s coming.”5Then the angel who had been talking with me stepped forward and told me, "Please look up and see what's going out."
“What is it?” I asked. He replied, “It is a basket for measuring grain, and it’s filled with the sins of everyone throughout the land.”6So I asked, "What is it?" He replied, "This is a basket making its appearance." He also said, "This is what it appears to be in the entire land."
Then the heavy lead cover was lifted off the basket, and there was a woman sitting inside it.7Look, a round lead cover was being lifted, and there was one woman seated inside the basket!
The angel said, “The woman’s name is Wickedness,” and he pushed her back into the basket and closed the heavy lid again.8And the angel said, "This is evil!" So he shoved her back into the basket and snapped the round, lead cover over the opening.
Then I looked up and saw two women flying toward us, gliding on the wind. They had wings like a stork, and they picked up the basket and flew into the sky.9Then I looked up to see two women coming forward with the wind filling their wings. (They had wings like those of a stork.) They took up the basket, holding it between the earth and sky.
“Where are they taking the basket?” I asked the angel.10So I asked the angel who was talking to me, "Where are they taking the basket?"
He replied, “To the land of Babylonia, where they will build a temple for the basket. And when the temple is ready, they will set the basket there on its pedestal.”11He answered me, "To the land of Shinar, so they can build a temple to the woman in the basket. Then when its preparations are complete, the basket will be set there in its place."
