Psalm 4
NLT Parallel NASB [BSB CSB ESV HCS KJV ISV NAS NET NIV NLT HEB]
New Living TranslationNew American Standard Bible 1995
1Answer me when I call to you, O God who declares me innocent. Free me from my troubles. Have mercy on me and hear my prayer.1For the choir director; on stringed instruments. A Psalm of David. Answer me when I call, O God of my righteousness! You have relieved me in my distress; Be gracious to me and hear my prayer.
2How long will you people ruin my reputation? How long will you make groundless accusations? How long will you continue your lies? Interlude2O sons of men, how long will my honor become a reproach? How long will you love what is worthless and aim at deception? Selah.
3You can be sure of this: The LORD set apart the godly for himself. The LORD will answer when I call to him.3But know that the LORD has set apart the godly man for Himself; The LORD hears when I call to Him.
4Don’t sin by letting anger control you. Think about it overnight and remain silent. Interlude4Tremble, and do not sin; Meditate in your heart upon your bed, and be still. Selah.
5Offer sacrifices in the right spirit, and trust the LORD.5Offer the sacrifices of righteousness, And trust in the LORD.
6Many people say, “Who will show us better times?” Let your face smile on us, LORD.6Many are saying, "Who will show us any good?" Lift up the light of Your countenance upon us, O LORD!
7You have given me greater joy than those who have abundant harvests of grain and new wine.7You have put gladness in my heart, More than when their grain and new wine abound.
8In peace I will lie down and sleep, for you alone, O LORD, will keep me safe.8In peace I will both lie down and sleep, For You alone, O LORD, make me to dwell in safety.
