God is our refuge and strength, always ready to help in times of trouble.1For the choir director. A Psalm of the sons of Korah, set to Alamoth. A Song. God is our refuge and strength, A very present help in trouble.
So we will not fear when earthquakes come and the mountains crumble into the sea.2Therefore we will not fear, though the earth should change And though the mountains slip into the heart of the sea;
Let the oceans roar and foam. Let the mountains tremble as the waters surge! Interlude3Though its waters roar and foam, Though the mountains quake at its swelling pride. Selah.
A river brings joy to the city of our God, the sacred home of the Most High.4There is a river whose streams make glad the city of God, The holy dwelling places of the Most High.
God dwells in that city; it cannot be destroyed. From the very break of day, God will protect it.5God is in the midst of her, she will not be moved; God will help her when morning dawns.
The nations are in chaos, and their kingdoms crumble! God’s voice thunders, and the earth melts!6The nations made an uproar, the kingdoms tottered; He raised His voice, the earth melted.
The LORD of Heaven’s Armies is here among us; the God of Israel is our fortress. Interlude7The LORD of hosts is with us; The God of Jacob is our stronghold. Selah.
Come, see the glorious works of the LORD: See how he brings destruction upon the world.8Come, behold the works of the LORD, Who has wrought desolations in the earth.
He causes wars to end throughout the earth. He breaks the bow and snaps the spear; he burns the shields with fire.9He makes wars to cease to the end of the earth; He breaks the bow and cuts the spear in two; He burns the chariots with fire.
“Be still, and know that I am God! I will be honored by every nation. I will be honored throughout the world.”10"Cease striving and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth."
The LORD of Heaven’s Armies is here among us; the God of Israel is our fortress. Interlude11The LORD of hosts is with us; The God of Jacob is our stronghold. Selah.
