1 Some time later, David defeated the Philistines, subdued them, and took Metheg-ammah from the hand of the Philistines. After this David defeated the Philistines and subdued them, and David took Metheg-ammah out of the hand of the Philistines. And after this it came to pass, that David smote the Philistines, and subdued them: and David took Methegammah out of the hand of the Philistines. Now it happened afterward that David defeated the Philistines and subdued them; and David took control of the chief city from the hand of the Philistines. In the course of time, David defeated the Philistines and subdued them, and he took Metheg Ammah from the control of the Philistines.
2 David also defeated the Moabites, made them lie down on the ground, and measured them off with a cord. He measured off with two lengths those to be put to death, and with one length those to be spared. So the Moabites became subject to David and brought him tribute. And he defeated Moab and he measured them with a line, making them lie down on the ground. Two lines he measured to be put to death, and one full line to be spared. And the Moabites became servants to David and brought tribute. And he smote Moab, and measured them with a line, casting them down to the ground; even with two lines measured he to put to death, and with one full line to keep alive. And <i>so</i> the Moabites became David's servants, <i>and</i> brought gifts. And He defeated Moab, and measured them with the line, making them lie down on the ground; and he measured two lines to put to death, and a full line to keep alive. And the Moabites became servants to David, bringing tribute. David also defeated the Moabites. He made them lie down on the ground and measured them off with a length of cord. Every two lengths of them were put to death, and the third length was allowed to live. So the Moabites became subject to David and brought him tribute.
3 David also defeated Hadadezer son of Rehob, king of Zobah, who had marched out to restore his dominion along the Euphrates River. David also defeated Hadadezer the son of Rehob, king of Zobah, as he went to restore his power at the river Euphrates. David smote also Hadadezer, the son of Rehob, king of Zobah, as he went to recover his border at the river Euphrates. Then David defeated Hadadezer, the son of Rehob king of Zobah, as he went to restore his power at the <i>Euphrates</i> River. Moreover, David defeated Hadadezer son of Rehob, king of Zobah, when he went to restore his monument at the Euphrates River.
4 David captured from him a thousand chariots, seven thousand charioteers, and twenty thousand foot soldiers, and he hamstrung all the horses except a hundred he kept for the chariots. And David took from him 1,700 horsemen, and 20,000 foot soldiers. And David hamstrung all the chariot horses but left enough for 100 chariots. And David took from him a thousand <i>chariots</i>, and seven hundred horsemen, and twenty thousand footmen: and David houghed all the chariot <i>horses</i>, but reserved of them <i>for</i> an hundred chariots. And David captured from him 1,700 horsemen and twenty thousand foot soldiers; and David hamstrung <i>almost</i> all the chariot horses, but left <i>enough</i> of them <i>for</i> a hundred chariots. David captured a thousand of his chariots, seven thousand charioteers and twenty thousand foot soldiers. He hamstrung all but a hundred of the chariot horses.
5 When the Arameans of Damascus came to help King Hadadezer of Zobah, David struck down twenty-two thousand men. And when the Syrians of Damascus came to help Hadadezer king of Zobah, David struck down 22,000 men of the Syrians. And when the Syrians of Damascus came to succour Hadadezer king of Zobah, David slew of the Syrians two and twenty thousand men. When the Arameans of Damascus came to help Hadadezer, king of Zobah, David killed twenty-two thousand men among the Arameans. When the Arameans of Damascus came to help Hadadezer king of Zobah, David struck down twenty-two thousand of them.
6 Then he placed garrisons in Aram of Damascus, and the Arameans became subject to David and brought him tribute. So the LORD made David victorious wherever he went. Then David put garrisons in Aram of Damascus, and the Syrians became servants to David and brought tribute. And the LORD gave victory to David wherever he went. Then David put garrisons in Syria of Damascus: and the Syrians became servants to David, <i>and</i> brought gifts. And the LORD preserved David whithersoever he went. Then David put garrisons among the Arameans of Damascus, and the Arameans became servants to David, bringing tribute. And the LORD helped David wherever he went. He put garrisons in the Aramean kingdom of Damascus, and the Arameans became subject to him and brought tribute. The LORD gave David victory wherever he went.
7 And David took the gold shields that belonged to the officers of Hadadezer and brought them to Jerusalem. And David took the shields of gold that were carried by the servants of Hadadezer and brought them to Jerusalem. And David took the shields of gold that were on the servants of Hadadezer, and brought them to Jerusalem. David took the shields of gold which were carried by the servants of Hadadezer, and brought them to Jerusalem. 9 When King Toi of Hamath heard that David had defeated the entire army of Hadadezer, When Toi king of Hamath heard that David had defeated the whole army of Hadadezer, When Toi king of Hamath heard that David had smitten all the host of Hadadezer, Now when Toi king of Hamath heard that David had defeated the whole army of Hadadezer, When Tou king of Hamath heard that David had defeated the entire army of Hadadezer,
10 he sent his son Joram to greet King David and bless him for fighting and defeating Hadadezer, who had been at war with Toi. Joram brought with him articles of silver and gold and bronze, Toi sent his son Joram to King David, to ask about his health and to bless him because he had fought against Hadadezer and defeated him, for Hadadezer had often been at war with Toi. And Joram brought with him articles of silver, of gold, and of bronze. Then Toi sent Joram his son unto king David, to salute him, and to bless him, because he had fought against Hadadezer, and smitten him: for Hadadezer had wars with Toi. And <i>Joram</i> brought with him vessels of silver, and vessels of gold, and vessels of brass: Toi sent his son Joram to King David to greet him and bless him, because he had fought Hadadezer and defeated him; for Hadadezer had been at war with Toi. And <i>Joram</i> brought with him articles of silver, gold, and bronze. he sent his son Joram to King David to greet him and congratulate him on his victory in battle over Hadadezer, who had been at war with Tou. Joram brought with him articles of silver, of gold and of bronze.
11 and King David dedicated these to the LORD, along with the silver and gold he had dedicated from all the nations he had subdued— These also King David dedicated to the LORD, together with the silver and gold that he dedicated from all the nations he subdued, Which also king David did dedicate unto the LORD, with the silver and gold that he had dedicated of all nations which he subdued; King David also consecrated these <i>gifts</i> to the LORD, with the silver and gold that he had consecrated from all the nations which he had subdued: King David dedicated these articles to the LORD, as he had done with the silver and gold from all the nations he had subdued:
12 from Edom and Moab, from the Ammonites and Philistines and Amalekites, and from the spoil of Hadadezer son of Rehob, king of Zobah. from Edom, Moab, the Ammonites, the Philistines, Amalek, and from the spoil of Hadadezer the son of Rehob, king of Zobah. Of Syria, and of Moab, and of the children of Ammon, and of the Philistines, and of Amalek, and of the spoil of Hadadezer, son of Rehob, king of Zobah. from Aram, Moab, the sons of Ammon, the Philistines, Amalek, and from the spoils of Hadadezer, son of Rehob, king of Zobah. Edom and Moab, the Ammonites and the Philistines, and Amalek. He also dedicated the plunder taken from Hadadezer son of Rehob, king of Zobah.
13 And David made a name for himself when he returned from striking down eighteen thousand Edomites in the Valley of Salt. And David made a name for himself when he returned from striking down 18,000 Edomites in the Valley of Salt. And David gat <i>him</i> a name when he returned from smiting of the Syrians in the valley of salt, <i>being</i> eighteen thousand <i>men</i>. So David made a name <i>for himself</i> when he returned from killing eighteen thousand Arameans in the Valley of Salt. And David became famous after he returned from striking down eighteen thousand Edomites in the Valley of Salt.
14 He placed garrisons throughout Edom, and all the Edomites were subject to David. So the LORD made David victorious wherever he went. Then he put garrisons in Edom; throughout all Edom he put garrisons, and all the Edomites became David’s servants. And the LORD gave victory to David wherever he went. And he put garrisons in Edom; throughout all Edom put he garrisons, and all they of Edom became David's servants. And the LORD preserved David whithersoever he went. He also put garrisons in Edom. In all Edom he put garrisons, and all the Edomites became servants to David. And the LORD helped David wherever he went. He put garrisons throughout Edom, and all the Edomites became subject to David. The LORD gave David victory wherever he went.
15 Thus David reigned over all Israel and administered justice and righteousness for all his people: So David reigned over all Israel. And David administered justice and equity to all his people. And David reigned over all Israel; and David executed judgment and justice unto all his people. So David reigned over all Israel; and David administered justice and righteousness for all his people. David reigned over all Israel, doing what was just and right for all his people.

18 Benaiah son of Jehoiada was over the Cherethites and Pelethites; and David’s sons were priestly leaders. and Benaiah the son of Jehoiada was over the Cherethites and the Pelethites, and David’s sons were priests. And Benaiah the son of Jehoiada <i>was over</i> both the Cherethites and the Pelethites; and David's sons were chief rulers. Benaiah the son of Jehoiada was over the Cherethites and the Pelethites; and David’s sons were chief ministers.
