For the choirmaster. To the tune of “The Lily of the Covenant.” A Miktam of David for instruction. When he fought Aram-naharaim and Aram-zobah, and Joab returned and struck down 12,000 Edomites in the Valley of Salt. You have rejected us, O God; You have broken us; You have been angry; restore us! O God, you have rejected us, broken our defenses; you have been angry; oh, restore us. To the chief Musician upon Shushaneduth, Michtam of David, to teach; when he strove with Aramnaharaim and with Aramzobah, when Joab returned, and smote of Edom in the valley of salt twelve thousand. O God, thou hast cast us off, thou hast scattered us, thou hast been displeased; O turn thyself to us again. For the music director; according to Shushan Eduth. A Mikhtam of David, to teach; when he fought with Aram-naharaim and Aram-zobah, and Joab returned, and killed twelve thousand of Edom in the Valley of Salt. God, You have rejected us. You have broken us; You have been angry; restore us! For the director of music. To the tune of “The Lily of the Covenant.” A miktam of David. For teaching. When he fought Aram Naharaim and Aram Zobah, and when Joab returned and struck down twelve thousand Edomites in the Valley of Salt. You have rejected us, God, and burst upon us; you have been angry—now restore us!
You have shaken the land and torn it open. Heal its fractures, for it is quaking. You have made the land to quake; you have torn it open; repair its breaches, for it totters. Thou hast made the earth to tremble; thou hast broken it: heal the breaches thereof; for it shaketh. You have made the land quake, You have split it open; Heal its cracks, for it sways. You have shaken the land and torn it open; mend its fractures, for it is quaking.
You have shown Your people hardship; we are staggered from the wine You made us drink. You have made your people see hard things; you have given us wine to drink that made us stagger. Thou hast shewed thy people hard things: thou hast made us to drink the wine of astonishment. You have made Your people experience hardship; You have given us wine to drink that makes us stagger. You have shown your people desperate times; you have given us wine that makes us stagger.
You have raised a banner for those who fear You, that they may flee the bow. Selah You have set up a banner for those who fear you, that they may flee to it from the bow. Selah Thou hast given a banner to them that fear thee, that it may be displayed because of the truth. Selah. You have given a banner to those who fear You, That it may be displayed because of the truth. Selah But for those who fear you, you have raised a banner to be unfurled against the bow.
Respond and save us with Your right hand, that Your beloved may be delivered. That your beloved ones may be delivered, give salvation by your right hand and answer us! That thy beloved may be delivered; save with thy right hand, and hear me. That Your beloved may be rescued, Save us with Your right hand, and answer us! Save us and help us with your right hand, that those you love may be delivered.
God has spoken from His sanctuary: “I will triumph! I will parcel out Shechem and apportion the Valley of Succoth. God has spoken in his holiness: “With exultation I will divide up Shechem and portion out the Vale of Succoth. God hath spoken in his holiness; I will rejoice, I will divide Shechem, and mete out the valley of Succoth. God has spoken in His holiness: “I will triumph, I will divide up Shechem, and measure out the Valley of Succoth. God has spoken from his sanctuary: “In triumph I will parcel out Shechem and measure off the Valley of Sukkoth.
Gilead is Mine, and Manasseh is Mine; Ephraim is My helmet, Judah is My scepter. Gilead is mine; Manasseh is mine; Ephraim is my helmet; Judah is my scepter. Gilead is mine, and Manasseh is mine; Ephraim also is the strength of mine head; Judah is my lawgiver; “Gilead is Mine, and Manasseh is Mine; Ephraim also is the helmet of My head; Judah is My scepter. Gilead is mine, and Manasseh is mine; Ephraim is my helmet, Judah is my scepter.
Moab is My washbasin; upon Edom I toss My sandal; over Philistia I shout in triumph. Moab is my washbasin; upon Edom I cast my shoe; over Philistia I shout in triumph.” Moab is my washpot; over Edom will I cast out my shoe: Philistia, triumph thou because of me. “Moab is My washbowl; I will throw My sandal over Edom; Shout loud, Philistia, because of Me!” Moab is my washbasin, on Edom I toss my sandal; over Philistia I shout in triumph.”
Who will bring me to the fortified city? Who will lead me to Edom? Who will bring me to the fortified city? Who will lead me to Edom? Who will bring me into the strong city? who will lead me into Edom? Who will bring me into the besieged city? Who will lead me to Edom? Who will bring me to the fortified city? Who will lead me to Edom?
Have You not rejected us, O God? Will You no longer march out, O God, with our armies? Have you not rejected us, O God? You do not go forth, O God, with our armies. Wilt not thou, O God, which hadst cast us off? and thou, O God, which didst not go out with our armies? Have You Yourself not rejected us, God? And will You not go out with our armies, God? Is it not you, God, you who have now rejected us and no longer go out with our armies?
Give us aid against the enemy, for the help of man is worthless. Oh, grant us help against the foe, for vain is the salvation of man! Give us help from trouble: for vain is the help of man. Oh give us help against the enemy, For rescue by man is worthless. Give us aid against the enemy, for human help is worthless.
With God we will perform with valor, and He will trample our enemies. With God we shall do valiantly; it is he who will tread down our foes. Through God we shall do valiantly: for he it is that shall tread down our enemies. Through God we will do valiantly, And it is He who will trample down our enemies. With God we will gain the victory, and he will trample down our enemies.
