That gospel centers on Christ’s death for sins, burial, resurrection, and promised return (1 Corinthians 15:1–4; 1 Thessalonians 1:9–10). God ordinarily summons sinners through the proclaimed word of Christ (Romans 10:14–17). Believers belong to one people whose hope is bound together in Him. Jesus possesses glory as the risen and reigning Lord, and He will openly reveal it at His appearing. Encouragement in Persecution Just as the Thessalonians faced persecution, we can find encouragement in knowing that our present sufferings are not worth comparing with the glory that will be revealed in us.
