The Destruction of Israel

1  רָאִ֨יתִי (I saw) אֶת־ (-) אֲדֹנָ֜י (the Lord) נִצָּ֣ב (standing) עַֽל־ (beside) הַמִּזְבֵּ֗חַ (the altar), וַיֹּאמֶר֩ (and He said),

הַ֨ךְ (Strike) הַכַּפְתּ֜וֹר (the doorposts)

וְיִרְעֲשׁ֣וּ (andt will shake), הַסִּפִּ֗ים (the thresholds)

וּבְצַ֙עַם֙ (and break them) בְּרֹ֣אשׁ (on the head), כֻּלָּ֔ם (of them all)

וְאַחֲרִיתָ֖ם (and the last of them) בַּחֶ֣רֶב (with the sword); אֶהֱרֹ֑ג (I will kill)

לֹֽא־ (not) יָנ֤וּס (will be able to flee) לָהֶם֙ (from them) נָ֔ס (the one fleeing),

וְלֹֽא־ (and no) יִמָּלֵ֥ט (will escape) לָהֶ֖ם (from them) פָּלִֽיט׃ (fugative).

2  אִם־ (If) יַחְתְּר֣וּ (they dig) בִשְׁא֔וֹל (into Sheol),

מִשָּׁ֖ם (from there) יָדִ֣י (my hand) תִקָּחֵ֑ם (will take them)

וְאִֽם־ (and if) יַעֲלוּ֙ (they go up) הַשָּׁמַ֔יִם (to the heavens),

מִשָּׁ֖ם (from there) אוֹרִידֵֽם׃ (I will bring them down);

3  וְאִם־ (and if) יֵחָֽבְאוּ֙ (they hide themselves) בְּרֹ֣אשׁ (on the top) הַכַּרְמֶ֔ל (of Carmel),

מִשָּׁ֥ם (from there); אֲחַפֵּ֖שׂ (I will search) וּלְקַחְתִּ֑ים (and will take them)

וְאִם־ (and if) יִסָּ֨תְר֜וּ (they hide) מִנֶּ֤גֶד (from) עֵינַי֙ (My eyes) בְּקַרְקַ֣ע (at the bottom) הַיָּ֔ם (of the sea),

מִשָּׁ֛ם (from there) אֲצַוֶּ֥ה (I will command) אֶת־ (-) הַנָּחָ֖שׁ (the serpent), וּנְשָׁכָֽם׃ (and it will bite them).

4  וְאִם־ (And if) יֵלְכ֤וּ (they go) בַשְּׁבִי֙ (into captivity) לִפְנֵ֣י (before the face) אֹֽיבֵיהֶ֔ם (of their enemies),

מִשָּׁ֛ם (from there) אֲצַוֶּ֥ה (I will command) אֶת־ (-) הַחֶ֖רֶב (the sword), וַהֲרָגָ֑תַם (and it will kill them)

וְשַׂמְתִּ֨י (and I will set) עֵינִ֧י (My eyes) עֲלֵיהֶ֛ם (on them)

לְרָעָ֖ה (for harm), וְלֹ֥א (and not) לְטוֹבָֽה׃ (for good).

5  וַאדֹנָ֨י (And the Lord) יְהוִ֜ה (YHWH) הַצְּבָא֗וֹת (of Hosts)

הַנּוֹגֵ֤עַ (the One touching) בָּאָ֙רֶץ֙ (the earth), וַתָּמ֔וֹג (and it melts),

וְאָבְל֖וּ (and mourn), כָּל־ (all) י֣וֹשְׁבֵי (those dwelling) בָ֑הּ (on it)

וְעָלְתָ֤ה (and swells) כַיְאֹר֙ (like the River); כֻּלָּ֔הּ (all of it)

וְשָׁקְעָ֖ה (and it sinks), כִּיאֹ֥ר (like the River) מִצְרָֽיִם (of Egypt).

6  הַבּוֹנֶ֤ה (The One building) בַשָּׁמַ֙יִם֙ (in the heaven), מַעֲלוֹתוֹ (His upper chambers)

וַאֲגֻדָּת֖וֹ (and His vault) עַל־ (upon) אֶ֣רֶץ (the earth); יְסָדָ֑הּ (having founded)

הַקֹּרֵ֣א (the One calling) לְמֵֽי־ (to the waters) הַיָּ֗ם (of the sea),

וַֽיִּשְׁפְּכֵ֛ם (and He pours them out) עַל־ (upon) פְּנֵ֥י (the face) הָאָ֖רֶץ (of the earth),

יְהוָ֥ה (YHWH is) שְׁמֽוֹ׃ (His name).

7  הֲל֣וֹא (Are not) כִבְנֵי֩ (like the sons) כֻשִׁיִּ֨ים (of the Cushites) אַתֶּ֥ם (you⁺) לִ֛י (to Me)

בְּנֵ֥י (O sons) יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל (of Israel)?

נְאֻם־ (A declaration) יְהוָ֑ה (of YHWH).

הֲל֣וֹא (Did not) אֶת־ (-) יִשְׂרָאֵ֗ל (Israel) הֶעֱלֵ֙יתִי֙ (I bring up)

מֵאֶ֣רֶץ (from the land) מִצְרַ֔יִם (of Egypt)?

וּפְלִשְׁתִּיִּ֥ים (And the Philistines) מִכַּפְתּ֖וֹר (from Caphtor)

וַאֲרָ֥ם (and Aram) מִקִּֽיר׃ (from Kir).

8  הִנֵּ֞ה (Behold), עֵינֵ֣י׀ (the eyes) אֲדֹנָ֣י (of the Lord) יְהוִ֗ה (YHWH)

בַּמַּמְלָכָה֙ (are on the kingdom), הַֽחַטָּאָ֔ה (sinful)

וְהִשְׁמַדְתִּ֣י (and I will destroy) אֹתָ֔הּ (it) מֵעַ֖ל (from) פְּנֵ֣י (the face) הָאֲדָמָ֑ה (of the earth);

אֶ֗פֶס (except) כִּ֠י (that) לֹ֣א (not) הַשְׁמֵ֥יד (destroting) אַשְׁמִ֛יד (will I destroy) אֶת־ (-) בֵּ֥ית (the house) יַעֲקֹ֖ב (of Jacob),

נְאֻם־ (a declaration) יְהוָֽה׃ (of YHWH).

9  כִּֽי־ (For), הִנֵּ֤ה (behold), אָֽנֹכִי֙ (I) מְצַוֶּ֔ה (am giving the command),

וַהֲנִע֥וֹתִי (and I will shake) בְכָֽל־ (among all) הַגּוֹיִ֖ם (the nations),

אֶת־ (-) בֵּ֣ית (the house) יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל (of Israel)

כַּאֲשֶׁ֤ר (as) יִנּ֙וֹעַ֙ (it is shaken) בַּכְּבָרָ֔ה (in a sieve),

וְלֹֽא־ (and not) יִפּ֥וֹל (will fall) צְר֖וֹר (a pebble) אָֽרֶץ׃ (to the ground).

10  בַּחֶ֣רֶב (By the sword), יָמ֔וּתוּ (they will die)

כֹּ֖ל (all) חַטָּאֵ֣י (the sinful ones) עַמִּ֑י (of My people)

הָאֹמְרִ֗ים (those saying),

לֹֽא־ (Not) תַגִּ֧ישׁ (will come near) וְתַקְדִּ֛ים (or meet) בַּעֲדֵ֖ינוּ (with us) הָרָעָֽה׃ (this evil).

A Promise of Restoration
(Acts 15:5–21)

11  בַּיּ֣וֹם (On the day) הַה֔וּא (that) אָקִ֛ים (I will raise up) אֶת־ (-)

סֻכַּ֥ת (the tent) דָּוִ֖יד (of David) הַנֹּפֶ֑לֶת (that has fallen),

וְגָדַרְתִּ֣י (and I will wall up) אֶת־ (-) פִּרְצֵיהֶ֗ן (its breaches) וַהֲרִֽסֹתָיו֙ (and its ruins), אָקִ֔ים (I will raise up)

וּבְנִיתִ֖יהָ (and I will rebuild it) כִּימֵ֥י (as in the days) עוֹלָֽם׃ (of old);

12  לְמַ֨עַן (so that) יִֽירְשׁ֜וּ (they may possess) אֶת־ (-) שְׁאֵרִ֤ית (the remnant) אֱדוֹם֙ (of Edom),

וְכָל־ (and all) הַגּוֹיִ֔ם (of the nations), אֲשֶׁר־ (that) נִקְרָ֥א (is called) שְׁמִ֖י (My name), עֲלֵיהֶ֑ם (over them)

נְאֻם־ (a declaration) יְהוָ֖ה (of YHWH) עֹ֥שֶׂה (the One doing) זֹּֽאת׃פ (this).

13  הִנֵּ֨ה (Behold), יָמִ֤ים (the days) בָּאִים֙ (are coming),

נְאֻם־ (says) יְהוָ֔ה (YHWH),

וְנִגַּ֤שׁ (Will draw near) חוֹרֵשׁ֙ (the one plowing) בַּקֹּצֵ֔ר (to the one reaping),

וְדֹרֵ֥ךְ (and the one treading) עֲנָבִ֖ים (the grapes) בְּמֹשֵׁ֣ךְ (to the one drawing out) הַזָּ֑רַע (the seed);

וְהִטִּ֤יפוּ (and will drip) הֶֽהָרִים֙ (the mountains) עָסִ֔יס (sweet wine),

וְכָל־ (and all) הַגְּבָע֖וֹת (the hills) תִּתְמוֹגַֽגְנָה׃ (will flow with it).

14  וְשַׁבְתִּי֮ (And I will turn back) אֶת־ (-) שְׁב֣וּת (the captivity) עַמִּ֣י (of My people) יִשְׂרָאֵל֒ (Israel),

וּבָנ֞וּ (and they will rebuild) עָרִ֤ים (the cities), נְשַׁמּוֹת֙ (that are desolate) וְיָשָׁ֔בוּ (and will dwell in them)

וְנָטְע֣וּ (and they will plant) כְרָמִ֔ים (vineyards), וְשָׁת֖וּ (and drink) אֶת־ (-) יֵינָ֑ם (their wine)

וְעָשׂ֣וּ (and they will make) גַנּ֔וֹת (gardens), וְאָכְל֖וּ (and eat) אֶת־ (-) פְּרִיהֶֽם׃ (of their fruit).

15  וּנְטַעְתִּ֖ים (And I will plant them) עַל־ (in) אַדְמָתָ֑ם (their land),

וְלֹ֨א (and not) יִנָּתְשׁ֜וּ (will they be uprooted) ע֗וֹד (anymore)

מֵעַ֤ל (from) אַדְמָתָם֙ (the land) אֲשֶׁ֣ר (that) נָתַ֣תִּי (I have given) לָהֶ֔ם (to them)

אָמַ֖ר (says) יְהוָ֥ה (YHWH) אֱלֹהֶֽיךָ׃ (your God).
