BOOK IV

Psalms 90–106

From Everlasting to Everlasting

1A Prayer of Moses, the man of God.

1 Lord, You have been a dwelling place for us,

in generation and generation.

2In the time before the mountains were brought forth,

or You formed the earth and the world,

and from forever even to forever,

You are God.

3You return man to dust

and say, “Return, O sons of men!”

4For a thousand years in your eyes

are like a day past that passes,

or a watch in the night.

5You sweep them away;

they are in their sleep like the grass that sprouts up in the morning.

6In the morning it blossoms and flourishes;

in the evening it is cut down and withers.

7For we are consumed by Your anger,

and by Your wrath we are terrified.

8You have set our iniquities before You,

our hidden things in the light of Your face.

9For all our days decline in Your fury;

we finish our years as a sigh.

10The days of our years, in them are seventy years,

or if by strength eighty years;

yet their pride is toil and trouble—

for it is cut off soon, and we fly away.

11Who knows the power of Your anger,

for as the fear of You is Your wrath?

12So teach us to number our days,

that we may bring in a heart of wisdom.

13Turn back, O YHWH—until when?—

And have compassion on Your servants!

14Satisfy us in the morning with Your loving devotion,

that we may sing for joy and be glad in all our days.

15Let us be glad according to the days You have afflicted us—

the years we have seen evil.

16Let Your work be shown to Your servants,

and Your splendor upon their sons.

17And may the favor of YHWH our God come to be upon us,

and may You support the work of our hands upon us—

and the work of our hands establish!
