ContextThe Fall of Tyre
…3The seed of the Nile in many waters, the harvest of the river is her revenue: and she is become the mart of the nations. 4Be thou ashamed, O Sidon: for the sea speaketh, even the strength of the sea, saying: I have not been in labour, nor have I brought forth, nor have I nourished up young men, nor brought up virgins.5When it shall be heard in Egypt, they will be sorry when they shall hear of Tyre:…
And Chanaan begot Sidon his firstborn, the Hethite,
And the limits of Chanaan were from Sidon as one comes to Gerara even to Gaza, until thou enter Sodom and Gomorrha, and Adama, and Seboim even to Lesa.

But the children of Israel, adding new sins to their old ones, did evil in the sight of the Lord, and served idols, Baalim and Astaroth, and the gods of Syria, and of Sidon, and of Moab, and of the children of Ammon, and of the Philistines: and they left the Lord, and did not serve him.
And all the kings of Tyre, and all the kings of Sidon: and the kings of the land of the islands that are beyond the sea.
And thou shalt send them to the king of Edom, and to the king of Moab, and to the king of the children of Ammon, and to the king of Tyre, and to the king of Sidon: by the hand of the messengers that are come to Jerusalem to Sedecias the king of Juda.

Son of man, set thy face against Sidon: and thou shalt prophesy of it,
And shalt say: Thus saith the Lord God: Behold I come against thee, Sidon, and I will be glorified in the midst of thee: and they shall know that I am the Lord, when I shall execute judgments in her, and shall be sanctified in her.
