ESV Parallel CSB [BSB CSB ESV HCS KJV ISV NAS NET NIV NLT HEB]
English Standard VersionChristian Standard Bible
The Spirit lifted me up and brought me to the east gate of the house of the LORD, which faces east. And behold, at the entrance of the gateway there were twenty-five men. And I saw among them Jaazaniah the son of Azzur, and Pelatiah the son of Benaiah, princes of the people.1The Spirit then lifted me up and brought me to the eastern gate of the LORD's house, which faces east, and at the gate's entrance were twenty-five men. Among them I saw Jaazaniah son of Azzur, and Pelatiah son of Benaiah, leaders of the people.
And he said to me, “Son of man, these are the men who devise iniquity and who give wicked counsel in this city;2The LORD said to me, "Son of man, these are the men who plot evil and give wicked advice in this city.
who say, ‘The time is not near to build houses. This city is the cauldron, and we are the meat.’3They are saying, 'Isn't the time near to build houses? The city is the pot, and we are the meat.'
Therefore prophesy against them; prophesy, O son of man.”4Therefore, prophesy against them. Prophesy, son of man!"
And the Spirit of the LORD fell upon me, and he said to me, “Say, Thus says the LORD: So you think, O house of Israel. For I know the things that come into your mind.5Then the Spirit of the LORD came on me, and he told me, "You are to say, 'This is what the LORD says: That is what you are thinking, house of Israel; and I know the thoughts that arise in your mind.
You have multiplied your slain in this city and have filled its streets with the slain.6You have multiplied your slain in this city, filling its streets with them.
Therefore thus says the Lord GOD: Your slain whom you have laid in the midst of it, they are the meat, and this city is the cauldron, but you shall be brought out of the midst of it.7"'Therefore, this is what the Lord GOD says: The slain you have put within it are the meat, and the city is the pot, but I will take you out of it.
You have feared the sword, and I will bring the sword upon you, declares the Lord GOD.8You fear the sword, so I will bring the sword against you. This is the declaration of the Lord GOD.
And I will bring you out of the midst of it, and give you into the hands of foreigners, and execute judgments upon you.9I will take you out of the city and hand you over to foreigners; I will execute judgments against you.
You shall fall by the sword. I will judge you at the border of Israel, and you shall know that I am the LORD.10You will fall by the sword, and I will judge you at the border of Israel. Then you will know that I am the LORD.
This city shall not be your cauldron, nor shall you be the meat in the midst of it. I will judge you at the border of Israel,11The city will not be a pot for you, and you will not be the meat within it. I will judge you at the border of Israel,
and you shall know that I am the LORD. For you have not walked in my statutes, nor obeyed my rules, but have acted according to the rules of the nations that are around you.”12so you will know that I am the LORD, whose statutes you have not followed and whose ordinances you have not practiced. Instead, you have acted according to the ordinances of the nations around you.'"
And it came to pass, while I was prophesying, that Pelatiah the son of Benaiah died. Then I fell down on my face and cried out with a loud voice and said, “Ah, Lord GOD! Will you make a full end of the remnant of Israel?”13Now while I was prophesying, Pelatiah son of Benaiah died. Then I fell facedown and cried out loudly, "Oh, Lord GOD! You are bringing the remnant of Israel to an end!"
And the word of the LORD came to me:14The word of the LORD came to me again:
“Son of man, your brothers, even your brothers, your kinsmen, the whole house of Israel, all of them, are those of whom the inhabitants of Jerusalem have said, ‘Go far from the LORD; to us this land is given for a possession.’15"Son of man, your own relatives, those who have the right to redeem your property, along with the entire house of Israel--all of them--are those to whom the residents of Jerusalem have said, 'You are far from the LORD; this land has been given to us as a possession.'
Therefore say, ‘Thus says the Lord GOD: Though I removed them far off among the nations, and though I scattered them among the countries, yet I have been a sanctuary to them for a while in the countries where they have gone.’16"Therefore say, 'This is what the Lord GOD says: Though I sent them far away among the nations and scattered them among the countries, yet for a little while I have been a sanctuary for them in the countries where they have gone.'
Therefore say, ‘Thus says the Lord GOD: I will gather you from the peoples and assemble you out of the countries where you have been scattered, and I will give you the land of Israel.’17"Therefore say, 'This is what the Lord GOD says: I will gather you from the peoples and assemble you from the countries where you have been scattered, and I will give you the land of Israel.'
And when they come there, they will remove from it all its detestable things and all its abominations.18"When they arrive there, they will remove all its abhorrent acts and detestable practices from it.
And I will give them one heart, and a new spirit I will put within them. I will remove the heart of stone from their flesh and give them a heart of flesh,19I will give them integrity of heart and put a new spirit within them; I will remove their heart of stone from their bodies and give them a heart of flesh,
that they may walk in my statutes and keep my rules and obey them. And they shall be my people, and I will be their God.20so that they will follow my statutes, keep my ordinances, and practice them. They will be my people, and I will be their God.
But as for those whose heart goes after their detestable things and their abominations, I will bring their deeds upon their own heads, declares the Lord GOD.”21But as for those whose hearts pursue their desire for abhorrent acts and detestable practices, I will bring their conduct down on their own heads." This is the declaration of the Lord GOD.
Then the cherubim lifted up their wings, with the wheels beside them, and the glory of the God of Israel was over them.22Then the cherubim, with the wheels beside them, lifted their wings, and the glory of the God of Israel was above them.
And the glory of the LORD went up from the midst of the city and stood on the mountain that is on the east side of the city.23The glory of the LORD rose up from within the city and stopped on the mountain east of the city.
And the Spirit lifted me up and brought me in the vision by the Spirit of God into Chaldea, to the exiles. Then the vision that I had seen went up from me.24The Spirit lifted me up and brought me to Chaldea and to the exiles in a vision from the Spirit of God. After the vision I had seen left me,
And I told the exiles all the things that the LORD had shown me.25I spoke to the exiles about all the things the LORD had shown me.
