Psalm 90
HCSB Parallel BSB [BSB CSB ESV HCS KJV ISV NAS NET NIV NLT HEB]
Holman Christian Standard BibleBerean Study Bible
A prayer of Moses, the man of God. Lord, You have been our refuge in every generation. 1A prayer of Moses the man of God. Lord, You have been our dwelling place through all generations.
Before the mountains were born, before You gave birth to the earth and the world, from eternity to eternity, You are God. 2Before the mountains were born or You brought forth the earth and the world, from everlasting to everlasting You are God.
You return mankind to the dust, saying, "Return, descendants of Adam." 3You return man to dust, saying, “Return, O sons of mortals.”
For in Your sight a thousand years are like yesterday that passes by, like a few hours of the night. 4For in Your sight a thousand years are but a day that passes, or a watch of the night.
You end their lives; they sleep. They are like grass that grows in the morning-- 5You whisk them away in their sleep; they are like the new grass of the morning—
in the morning it sprouts and grows; by evening it withers and dries up. 6in the morning it springs up new, but by evening it fades and withers.
For we are consumed by Your anger; we are terrified by Your wrath. 7For we are consumed by Your anger and terrified by Your wrath.
You have set our unjust ways before You, our secret sins in the light of Your presence. 8You have set our iniquities before You, our secret sins in the light of Your presence.
For all our days ebb away under Your wrath; we end our years like a sigh. 9For all our days decline in Your fury; we finish our years with a sigh.
Our lives last seventy years or, if we are strong, eighty years. Even the best of them are struggle and sorrow; indeed, they pass quickly and we fly away. 10The length of our days is seventy years—or eighty if we are strong—yet their pride is but labor and sorrow, for they quickly pass, and we fly away.
Who understands the power of Your anger? Your wrath matches the fear that is due You. 11Who knows the power of Your anger? Your wrath matches the fear You are due.
Teach us to number our days carefully so that we may develop wisdom in our hearts. 12So teach us to number our days, that we may present a heart of wisdom.
LORD--how long? Turn and have compassion on Your servants. 13Return, O LORD! How long will it be? Have compassion on Your servants.
Satisfy us in the morning with Your faithful love so that we may shout with joy and be glad all our days. 14Satisfy us in the morning with Your loving devotion, that we may sing for joy and be glad all our days.
Make us rejoice for as many days as You have humbled us, for as many years as we have seen adversity. 15Make us glad for as many days as You have afflicted us, for as many years as we have seen evil.
Let Your work be seen by Your servants, and Your splendor by their children. 16May Your work be shown to Your servants, and Your splendor to their children.
Let the favor of the Lord our God be on us; establish for us the work of our hands-- establish the work of our hands! 17May the favor of the Lord our God rest upon us; establish for us the work of our hands—yes, establish the work of our hands!
