1A song of ascents. In my distress I called to the LORD, and He answered me." 1שִׁ֗יר הַֽמַּ֫עֲל֥וֹת אֶל־ יְ֭הוָה בַּצָּרָ֣תָה לִּ֑י קָ֝רָ֗אתִי וַֽיַּעֲנֵֽנִי׃
2 LORD, deliver me from lying lips and a deceitful tongue." 2יְֽהוָ֗ה הַצִּ֣ילָה נַ֭פְשִׁי מִשְּׂפַת־ שֶׁ֑קֶר מִלָּשׁ֥וֹן רְמִיָּֽה׃
3What will He give you, and what will He do to you, you deceitful tongue? 3מַה־ יִּתֵּ֣ן לְ֭ךָ וּמַה־ יֹּסִ֥יף לָ֗ךְ לָשׁ֥וֹן רְמִיָּֽה׃
4A warrior's sharp arrows with burning charcoal! 4חִצֵּ֣י גִבּ֣וֹר שְׁנוּנִ֑ים עִ֝֗ם גַּחֲלֵ֥י רְתָמִֽים׃
5What misery that I have stayed in Meshech, that I have lived among the tents of Kedar! 5אֽוֹיָה־ לִ֭י כִּי־ גַ֣רְתִּי מֶ֑שֶׁךְ שָׁ֝כַ֗נְתִּי עִֽם־ אָהֳלֵ֥י קֵדָֽר׃
6I have lived too long with those who hate peace. 6רַ֭בַּת שָֽׁכְנָה־ לָּ֣הּ נַפְשִׁ֑י עִ֝֗ם שׂוֹנֵ֥א שָׁלֽוֹם׃
7I am for peace; but when I speak, they are for war. 7אֲ‍ֽנִי־ שָׁ֭לוֹם וְכִ֣י אֲדַבֵּ֑ר הֵ֝֗מָּה לַמִּלְחָמָֽה׃
