| 1A Davidic song of ascents. I rejoiced with those who said to me," Let us go to the house of the LORD." | 1I rejoiced when they kept on asking me, "Let us go to the LORD's Temple." |
| 2Our feet are standing within your gates, Jerusalem-- | 2Our feet are standing inside your gates, Jerusalem. |
| 3Jerusalem, built as a city should be, solidly joined together, | 3Jerusalem stands built up, a city knitted together. |
| 4where the tribes, Yahweh's tribes, go up to give thanks to the name of Yahweh. (This is an ordinance for Israel.) | 4To it the tribes ascend— the tribes of the LORD— as decreed to Israel, to give thanks to the name of the LORD. |
| 5There, thrones for judgment are placed, thrones of the house of David. | 5For thrones are established there for judgment, thrones of the house of David. |
| 6Pray for the peace of Jerusalem:" May those who love you prosper; | 6Pray for peace for Jerusalem: "May those who love you be at peace! |
