Moses and the elders of Israel commanded the people, "Keep every command I am giving you today. 1And Moses with the elders of Israel commanded the people, saying, Keep all the commandments which I command you this day.
At the time you cross the Jordan into the land the LORD your God is giving you, you must set up large stones and cover them with plaster.2And it shall be on the day when ye shall pass over Jordan unto the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee, that thou shalt set thee up great stones, and plaister them with plaister:
Write all the words of this law on the stones after you cross to enter the land the LORD your God is giving you, a land flowing with milk and honey, as Yahweh, the God of your fathers, has promised you. 3And thou shalt write upon them all the words of this law, when thou art passed over, that thou mayest go in unto the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee, a land that floweth with milk and honey; as the LORD God of thy fathers hath promised thee.
When you have crossed the Jordan, you are to set up these stones on Mount Ebal, as I am commanding you today, and you are to cover them with plaster. 4Therefore it shall be when ye be gone over Jordan, that ye shall set up these stones, which I command you this day, in mount Ebal, and thou shalt plaister them with plaister.
Build an altar of stones there to the LORD your God--you must not use any iron tool on them.5And there shalt thou build an altar unto the LORD thy God, an altar of stones: thou shalt not lift up any iron tool upon them.
Use uncut stones to build the altar of the LORD your God and offer burnt offerings to the LORD your God on it. 6Thou shalt build the altar of the LORD thy God of whole stones: and thou shalt offer burnt offerings thereon unto the LORD thy God:
There you are to sacrifice fellowship offerings, eat, and rejoice in the presence of the LORD your God. 7And thou shalt offer peace offerings, and shalt eat there, and rejoice before the LORD thy God.
Write clearly all the words of this law on the plastered stones." 8And thou shalt write upon the stones all the words of this law very plainly.
Moses and the Levitical priests spoke to all Israel, "Be silent, Israel, and listen! This day you have become the people of the LORD your God. 9And Moses and the priests the Levites spake unto all Israel, saying, Take heed, and hearken, O Israel; this day thou art become the people of the LORD thy God.
Obey the LORD your God and follow His commands and statutes I am giving you today." 10Thou shalt therefore obey the voice of the LORD thy God, and do his commandments and his statutes, which I command thee this day.
On that day Moses commanded the people, "11And Moses charged the people the same day, saying,
When you have crossed the Jordan, these tribes will stand on Mount Gerizim to bless the people: Simeon, Levi, Judah, Issachar, Joseph, and Benjamin. 12These shall stand upon mount Gerizim to bless the people, when ye are come over Jordan; Simeon, and Levi, and Judah, and Issachar, and Joseph, and Benjamin:
And these tribes will stand on Mount Ebal to deliver the curse: Reuben, Gad, Asher, Zebulun, Dan, and Naphtali.13And these shall stand upon mount Ebal to curse; Reuben, Gad, and Asher, and Zebulun, Dan, and Naphtali.
