Don't be angry because of those who do evil, do not be jealous because of those who commit iniquity.1Of David. Do not fret over those who do evil; do not envy those who do wrong.
Indeed, they soon will wither like grass, and like green herbs they will fade away.2For they wither quickly like grass and wilt like tender plants.
Trust in the LORD and do good. Dwell in the land and feed on faithfulness.3Trust in the LORD and do good; dwell in the land and cultivate faithfulness.
Delight yourself in the LORD, and he will give you the desires of your heart.4Delight yourself in the LORD, and He will give you the desires of your heart.
Commit your way to the LORD; Trust him, and he will act.5Commit your way to the LORD; trust in Him, and He will do it.
He will bring forth your righteousness as a light, and your justice as the noonday sun. 6He will bring forth your righteousness like the dawn, your justice like the noonday sun.
Be silent in the LORD's presence and wait patiently for him. Don't be angry because of the one whose way prospers or the one who implements evil schemes.7Be still before the LORD and wait patiently for Him; do not fret when men prosper in their ways, when they carry out wicked schemes.
Calm your anger and abandon wrath. Don't be angry— it only leads to evil.8Refrain from anger and abandon wrath; do not fret—it can only bring harm.
Those who do evil will perish. But those who wait on the LORD will inherit the land.9For the evildoers will be cut off, but those who hope in the LORD will inherit the land.
Yet a little while longer, and the wicked will be no more. You will search for his place, but he will not be there.10Yet a little while, and the wicked will be no more; though you look for them, they will not be found.
The humble will inherit the land; they will take in abundant peace.11But the meek will inherit the land and delight in abundant prosperity.
The wicked person plots against the righteous, and grinds his teeth at him.12The wicked scheme against the righteous and gnash their teeth at them,
But the Lord laughs at him because he sees that his day is coming!13but the Lord laughs, seeing that their day is coming.
The wicked take out a sword and bend the bow, to bring down the humble and the poor to slay those who are righteous in conduct.14The wicked have drawn the sword and bent the bow to bring down the poor and needy, to slay those whose ways are upright.
But their sword will pierce their own heart, and their bows will be broken!15But their swords will pierce their own hearts, and their bows will be broken.
Better is the little that the righteous have than the abundance of many wicked people.16Better is the little of the righteous than the abundance of many who are wicked.
For the arms of the wicked will be broken, but the LORD upholds the righteous.17For the arms of the wicked will be broken, but the LORD upholds the righteous.
The LORD knows the day of the blameless, and their inheritance will last forever.18The LORD knows the days of the blameless, and their inheritance will last forever.
They will not experience shame in times of trouble; in times of famine they will have plenty.19In the time of evil they will not be ashamed, and in the days of famine they will be satisfied.
Indeed, the wicked will perish. The LORD's enemies will be consumed like flowers in the fields. They will vanish like smoke.20But the wicked and enemies of the LORD will perish like the glory of the fields. They will vanish; like smoke they will fade away.
The wicked borrow but never pay back; but the righteous are generous and give.21The wicked borrow and do not repay, but the righteous are gracious and giving.
For those blessed by God will inherit the land, but those cursed by him will be cut off.22Surely those He blesses will inherit the land, but the cursed will be destroyed.
A man's steps are established by the LORD, and the LORD delights in his way.23The steps of a man are ordered by the LORD who takes delight in his journey.
Though he stumbles, he will not fall down flat, for the LORD will hold up his hand.24Though he falls, he will not be overwhelmed, for the LORD is holding his hand.
I once was young and now I am old, but I have not seen a righteous person forsaken or his descendants begging for bread.25I once was young and now am old, yet never have I seen the righteous abandoned or their children begging for bread.
Every day he is generous, lending freely, and his descendants are blessed.26They are ever generous and quick to lend, and their children are a blessing.
Depart from evil, and do good, and you will live in the land forever.27Turn away from evil and do good, so that you will abide forever.
Indeed, the LORD loves justice, and he will not abandon his godly ones. They are kept safe forever, but the lawless will be chased away, and the descendants of the wicked will be cut off.28For the LORD loves justice and will not forsake His saints. They are preserved forever, but the offspring of the wicked will be cut off.
The righteous will inherit the land, and they will dwell in it forever.29The righteous will inherit the land and dwell in it forever.
The mouth of the righteous one produces wisdom; his tongue speaks justice.30The mouth of the righteous man utters wisdom, and his tongue speaks justice.
The instruction of his God is in his heart; his steps will not slip.31The law of his God is in his heart; his steps do not falter.
The wicked stalks the righteous person, seeking to kill him,32Though the wicked lie in wait for the righteous, and seek to slay them,
but the LORD will not let him fall into his hands. He will not be condemned when he is put on trial.33the LORD will not leave them in their power or let them be condemned under judgment.
Wait on the LORD, Keep faithful to his way, and he will exalt you to possess the land. You will see the wicked cut off.34Wait for the LORD and keep His way, and He will raise you up to inherit the land. When the wicked are cut off, you will see it.
I once observed a wicked and oppressive person, flourishing like a green tree in native soil.35I have seen a wicked, ruthless man flourishing like a well-rooted native tree,
But then he passed away; in fact, he simply was not there. When I looked for him, he could not be found.36yet he passed away and was no more; though I searched, he could not be found.
Observe the blameless! Take note of the upright! Indeed, the future of that man is peace.37Consider the blameless and observe the upright, for posterity awaits the man of peace.
Sinners will be destroyed together; the future of the wicked will be cut off.38But the transgressors will all be destroyed; the future of the wicked will be cut off.
But deliverance for the righteous one comes from the LORD; he is their strength in times of distress.39The salvation of the righteous is from the LORD; He is their stronghold in time of trouble.
The LORD helps and delivers them; he will deliver them from the wicked, and he will save them because they have sought refuge in him.40The LORD helps and delivers them; He rescues and saves them from the wicked, because they take refuge in Him.
