The LORD told Moses, 1The LORD spoke to Moses,
"Issue these orders to the Israelis: 'You're about to enter the land of Canaan. This territory has been apportioned to you as your inheritance: the entire land of Canaan, all the way to its borders.'"2"Command the Israelites and say to them: When you enter the land of Canaan, it will be allotted to you as an inheritance with these borders:
"'To your south is the Wilderness of Zin, bordering Edom. Your southern border is to extend east toward the far end of the Dead Sea, 3Your southern side will be from the Wilderness of Zin along the boundary of Edom. Your southern border on the east will begin at the east end of the Dead Sea.
then it is to turn southward to the ascent of Akrabbim, cross Zin, and then run south of Kadesh-barnea and proceed from there to Hazar-addar and across to Azmon. 4Your border will turn south of the Scorpions' Ascent, proceed to Zin, and end south of Kadesh-barnea. It will go to Hazar-addar and proceed to Azmon.
Then the border is to turn from Azmon toward the wadi of Egypt and from there to the Mediterranean Sea.'"5The border will turn from Azmon to the Brook of Egypt, where it will end at the Mediterranean Sea.
"'The western border is to be the Mediterranean Sea. This is to be the western border.'"6Your western border will be the coastline of the Mediterranean Sea; this will be your western border.
"'Your northern border is to extend from the Mediterranean Sea to Mount Hor. 7This will be your northern border: From the Mediterranean Sea draw a line to Mount Hor;
From Mount Hor, you are to mark out the entrance to Hammath, with the border running through Zedad, 8from Mount Hor draw a line to the entrance of Hamath, and the border will reach Zedad.
then through Ziphron, and then to Hazar-enan. This is to be the northern border.'"9Then the border will go to Ziphron and end at Hazar-enan. This will be your northern border.
"'You are to mark the border on the east from Hazar-enan to Shepham. 10For your eastern border, draw a line from Hazar-enan to Shepham.
The border is then to extend from Shepham to Riblah, on the east side of Ain, then to the Sea of Chinnereth on the east. 11The border will go down from Shepham to Riblah east of Ain. It will continue down and reach the eastern slope of the Sea of Chinnereth.
The border is to continue along the Jordan River all the way to the Dead Sea. This is to be your land, as measured by its boundaries.'"12Then the border will go down to the Jordan and end at the Dead Sea. This will be your land defined by its borders on all sides."
Moses commanded the Israelis, "You are to inherit this land by lot, just as the LORD commanded to give it to the remaining nine and a half tribes. 13So Moses commanded the Israelites, "This is the land you are to receive by lot as an inheritance, which the LORD commanded to be given to the nine and a half tribes.
The tribes of Reuben, Gad, and half the tribe of Manasseh, as defined by their ancestral houses, have received their inheritance. 14For the tribe of Reuben's descendants and the tribe of Gad's descendants have received their inheritance according to their ancestral families, and half the tribe of Manasseh has received its inheritance.
These two and a half tribes received their inheritance this side of the Jordan River, east of Jericho, facing the rising sun."15The two and a half tribes have received their inheritance across the Jordan east of Jericho, toward the sunrise."
Then the LORD told Moses, 16The LORD spoke to Moses,
