1 Deliver me, LORD, from evil people, preserve me from violent men,1לַמְנַצֵּ֗חַ מִזְמ֥וֹר לְדָוִֽד׃ חַלְּצֵ֣נִי יְ֭הוָה מֵאָדָ֣ם רָ֑ע מֵאִ֖ישׁ חֲמָסִ֣ים תִּנְצְרֵֽנִי׃
2who craft evil plans in their minds, inciting wars every day. 2אֲשֶׁ֤ר חָשְׁב֣וּ רָע֣וֹת בְּלֵ֑ב כָּל־ י֝֗וֹם יָג֥וּרוּ מִלְחָמֽוֹת׃
3They sharpen their tongues like a serpent; the venom of vipers is on their lips. Interlude3שָֽׁנֲנ֣וּ לְשׁוֹנָם֮ כְּֽמוֹ־ נָ֫חָ֥שׁ חֲמַ֥ת עַכְשׁ֑וּב תַּ֖חַת שְׂפָתֵ֣ימוֹ סֶֽלָה׃
4Protect me, LORD, from the control of evil people, from violent men who have planned to trip me.4שָׁמְרֵ֤נִי יְהוָ֨ה ׀ מִ֘ידֵ֤י רָשָׁ֗ע מֵאִ֣ישׁ חֲמָסִ֣ים תִּנְצְרֵ֑נִי אֲשֶׁ֥ר חָ֝שְׁב֗וּ לִדְח֥וֹת פְּעָמָֽי׃
5The arrogant have laid a trap for me; they have spread a net with ropes, lining it with snares along the way. Interlude5טָֽמְנֽוּ־ גֵאִ֨ים ׀ פַּ֡ח לִ֗י וַחֲבָלִ֗ים פָּ֣רְשׂוּ רֶ֭שֶׁת לְיַד־ מַעְגָּ֑ל מֹקְשִׁ֖ים שָֽׁתוּ־ לִ֣י סֶֽלָה׃
6So I say to the LORD, "You are my God; listen to my voice as I plead for mercy, LORD.6אָמַ֣רְתִּי לַ֭יהוָה אֵ֣לִי אָ֑תָּה הַאֲזִ֥ינָה יְ֝הוָ֗ה ק֣וֹל תַּחֲנוּנָֽי׃
7LORD, my Lord, my strong deliverer, you have protected my head in the time of battle.7יְהֹוִ֣ה אֲ֭דֹנָי עֹ֣ז יְשׁוּעָתִ֑י סַכֹּ֥תָה לְ֝רֹאשִׁ֗י בְּי֣וֹם נָֽשֶׁק׃
8Never grant, LORD, the desires of the wicked; never condone their plans so they cannot exalt themselves. Interlude8אַל־ תִּתֵּ֣ן יְ֭הוָה מַאֲוַיֵּ֣י רָשָׁ֑ע זְמָמ֥וֹ אַל־ תָּ֝פֵ֗ק יָר֥וּמוּ סֶֽלָה׃
9May those who surround me discover that the trouble they talk about falls on their own head!9רֹ֥אשׁ מְסִבָּ֑י עֲמַ֖ל שְׂפָתֵ֣ימוֹ [יכסומו] (יְכַסֵּֽמוֹ׃‪‬)
10May burning coals fall on them; may they be cast into fire, and into miry pits, never to rise again.10[ימיטו] (יִמּ֥וֹטוּ) עֲלֵיהֶ֗ם גֶּֽחָ֫לִ֥ים בָּאֵ֥שׁ יַפִּלֵ֑ם בְּ֝מַהֲמֹר֗וֹת בַּֽל־ יָקֽוּמוּ׃
11Let not the slanderer become established in the land. May evil quickly hunt down the violent man.11אִ֥ישׁ לָשׁוֹן֮ בַּל־ יִכּ֪וֹן בָּ֫אָ֥רֶץ אִישׁ־ חָמָ֥ס רָ֑ע יְ֝צוּדֶ֗נּוּ לְמַדְחֵפֹֽת׃
12I know that the LORD will act on behalf of the tormented, providing justice for the needy.12[ידעת] (יָדַ֗עְתִּי) כִּֽי־ יַעֲשֶׂ֣ה יְ֭הוָה דִּ֣ין עָנִ֑י מִ֝שְׁפַּ֗ט אֶבְיֹנִֽים׃
13Surely the righteous will give thanks to your name, while the upright live in your presence.13אַ֣ךְ צַ֭דִּיקִים יוֹד֣וּ לִשְׁמֶ֑ךָ יֵשְׁב֥וּ יְ֝שָׁרִ֗ים אֶת־ פָּנֶֽיךָ׃
