| 1Imitate me, as I do the Messiah. | 1Be imitators of me, just as I also am of Christ. |
| 2I praise you for remembering everything I told you and for holding to the traditions that I passed on to you. | 2I praise you because you remember me in everything and maintain the traditions just as I passed them on to you. |
| 3Now I want you to realize that the Messiah is the head of every man, and man is the head of the woman, and God is the head of the Messiah. | 3But I want you to know that Christ is the head of every man, and the man is the head of a woman, and God is the head of Christ. |
| 4Every man who prays or prophesies with something on his head dishonors his head, | 4Any man who prays or prophesies with his head covered disgraces his head. |
| 5and every woman who prays or prophesies with her head uncovered dishonors her head, which is the same as having her head shaved. | 5But any woman who prays or prophesies with her head uncovered disgraces her head, for it is one and the same thing as having a shaved head. |
| 6So if a woman does not cover her head, she should cut off her hair.
