To the chief Musician upon Gittith, A Psalm for the sons of Korah. How amiable are thy tabernacles, O LORD of hosts!1For the choir director: on the Gittith. A psalm of the sons of Korah. How lovely is Your dwelling place, LORD of Hosts.
My soul longeth, yea, even fainteth for the courts of the LORD: my heart and my flesh crieth out for the living God.2I long and yearn for the courts of the LORD; my heart and flesh cry out for the living God.
Yea, the sparrow hath found an house, and the swallow a nest for herself, where she may lay her young, even thine altars, O LORD of hosts, my King, and my God.3Even a sparrow finds a home, and a swallow, a nest for herself where she places her young-- near Your altars, LORD of Hosts, my King and my God.
Blessed are they that dwell in thy house: they will be still praising thee. Selah.4How happy are those who reside in Your house, who praise You continually. Selah
Blessed is the man whose strength is in thee; in whose heart are the ways of them.5Happy are the people whose strength is in You, whose hearts are set on pilgrimage.
Who passing through the valley of Baca make it a well; the rain also filleth the pools.6As they pass through the Valley of Baca, they make it a source of springwater; even the autumn rain will cover it with blessings.
They go from strength to strength, every one of them in Zion appeareth before God.7They go from strength to strength; each appears before God in Zion.
O LORD God of hosts, hear my prayer: give ear, O God of Jacob. Selah.8 LORD God of Hosts, hear my prayer; listen, God of Jacob. Selah
Behold, O God our shield, and look upon the face of thine anointed.9Consider our shield, God; look on the face of Your anointed one.
For a day in thy courts is better than a thousand. I had rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God, than to dwell in the tents of wickedness.10Better a day in Your courts than a thousand anywhere else. I would rather be at the door of the house of my God than to live in the tents of wicked people.
For the LORD God is a sun and shield: the LORD will give grace and glory: no good thing will he withhold from them that walk uprightly.11For the LORD God is a sun and shield. The LORD gives grace and glory; He does not withhold the good from those who live with integrity.
O LORD of hosts, blessed is the man that trusteth in thee.12Happy is the person who trusts in You, LORD of Hosts!
