King James BibleInternational Standard Version
And Moses with the elders of Israel commanded the people, saying, Keep all the commandments which I command you this day.1Moses and the elders of Israel gave these orders to the people: "Observe all of the commandments that I'm giving you today.
And it shall be on the day when ye shall pass over Jordan unto the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee, that thou shalt set thee up great stones, and plaister them with plaister:2On the day you cross over the Jordan River to the land that the LORD your God is about to give you, set up large stones and coat them with plaster.
And thou shalt write upon them all the words of this law, when thou art passed over, that thou mayest go in unto the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee, a land that floweth with milk and honey; as the LORD God of thy fathers hath promised thee.3Then inscribe on them all the words of this law when you've crossed over into the land that the LORD your God is about to give you—a land flowing with milk and honey—just as the LORD God of your ancestors promised you.
Therefore it shall be when ye be gone over Jordan, that ye shall set up these stones, which I command you this day, in mount Ebal, and thou shalt plaister them with plaister.4"When you have crossed the Jordan River, set up these stones about which I'm commanding you today on Mount Ebal, and coat them with plaster.
And there shalt thou build an altar unto the LORD thy God, an altar of stones: thou shalt not lift up any iron tool upon them.5Then build an altar there to the LORD your God, an altar of stones that hasn't been worked with iron tools.
Thou shalt build the altar of the LORD thy God of whole stones: and thou shalt offer burnt offerings thereon unto the LORD thy God:6Build the altar to the LORD your God with uncut stones, then offer a burnt offering to him.
And thou shalt offer peace offerings, and shalt eat there, and rejoice before the LORD thy God.7Offer a burnt offering there, then eat and rejoice in the presence of the LORD your God.
And thou shalt write upon the stones all the words of this law very plainly.8Inscribe on the stones plainly and distinctly all the words of this Law."
And Moses and the priests the Levites spake unto all Israel, saying, Take heed, and hearken, O Israel; this day thou art become the people of the LORD thy God.9Then Moses and the Levitical priests spoke to Israel. They said, "Be quiet and listen, Israel! Today you have become the people of the LORD your God.
Thou shalt therefore obey the voice of the LORD thy God, and do his commandments and his statutes, which I command thee this day.10Listen to his voice and carry out his commands and statutes that I'm giving you today."
And Moses charged the people the same day, saying,11Moses gave the people these commands that day:
These shall stand upon mount Gerizim to bless the people, when ye are come over Jordan; Simeon, and Levi, and Judah, and Issachar, and Joseph, and Benjamin:12"When you cross the Jordan River, these tribes are to stand on Mount Gerizim to bless the people—Simeon, Levi, Judah, Issachar, Joseph, and Benjamin.
And these shall stand upon mount Ebal to curse; Reuben, Gad, and Asher, and Zebulun, Dan, and Naphtali.13The tribes of Reuben, Gad, Asher, Zebulun, Dan, and Naphtali are to stand on Mount Ebal to pronounce the curse.
And the Levites shall speak, and say unto all the men of Israel with a loud voice,14The descendants of Levi are to declare in a loud voice to every Israeli:
